Prince Harry told the BBC that it was “impossible for me to bring my family back to Great Britain”, after losing his legal challenge to the British government on Friday after changing his security measures after he had resigned from royal duties.
The younger son of King Charles, Duke of Sussex, unsuccessfully tried to overthrow a decision by the Ministry of the Interior – the ministry responsible for the police work – that in 2020 that he would not automatically receive the highest level of personal police protection in Great Britain.
The prince told the BBC in an interview in the USA that he was “quite disappointed”.
“We thought it would go in our way, but it certainly proved that there was no way to win this through the dishes,” said Harry.
The decision was originally made as part of a conservative government. Harry said that Prime Minister Keir Starrer’s Labor government was not legally prevented from checking the decision.
“I would ask the prime minister to intervene. I would ask Yvette Cooper, the Interior Minister, to look at this, very, very carefully,” he told the BBC.
Harry said he still hoped for reconciliation with members of his family, but he said his father “would not speak to me because of these safety material”, and he did not know the status of recovery of the king of a cancer diagnosis.
“I am who I am”
The 40-year-old Harry informed the BBC whether he fulfilled the royal duties or not, he is still a member of a top-class family and his security requirements are not that of a typical private individuals. He pointed out that Prime Minister and other top -class civil servants rightly receive the highest security protection long after their public service.
“My status has not changed – it can’t change,” he said. “I am who I am, I am part of what I am for, I can’t escape it.”
Prince Harry will receive considerable compensation after settling a lawsuit with Rupert Murdoch’s news group newspapers, which the British tabloid The Sun and others publish. He also received an apology for “serious penetration” into his private life by using illegal remedies.
Harry and his American wife Meghan Markle married at Windsor Castle in May 2018. Within two years, the couple terminated the royal duties and after a temporary stay in British Columbia they moved to California and quoted what they saw as racist treatment of Meghan by the media, and lack of support from the palace.
The couple now has two children.
The couple explained the development of the violation in a top-class interview with Oprah Winfrey and a six-part Netflix documentary. Harry then wrote a memoir, Spare partIn which he claimed that the older brother William attacked him in an incident from 2019 and “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”.
Last year, the Supreme Court in London decided that the decision was lawful and that this decision was confirmed by three judges of the senior appellate court.
Judge Geoffrey Vos said Harry’s lawyer had made “powerful and moving arguments” on the effects of the decision on his security.
“It was clear that the Duke of Sussex felt badly treated by the system, but I concluded – after examining the detail of the extensive documentation – I could not say that the feeling of the duke’s complaint was translated into a legal argument for the challenge of the (original) decision,” he told the court.
Harry took part in two days of the hearings in April when his lawyer told the court that he had been recognized for another, unjustified and inferior treatment.
His lawyers said Al-Qaida recently murdered, and in 2023 he and his wife were involved in “a dangerous persecution with Paparazzi in New York City”.
“One should not forget the human dimension for this case: it is a person behind me, whose security, whose security and his life is at stake,” his lawyer Shaheed Fatima told the court.
Regarding King Charles, Buckingham Place said on Friday that he and his wife Queen Camilla Canada will visit Kanada from May 26th to 27th.
The presence of the monarch comes after his recent recognition that he is also the king of Canada, a country in which US President Donald Trump has made it clear that he has designs.
The visit to Canada would be Charles’ second trip abroad this year after visiting Italy, where he held a private meeting with Pope Francis shortly before the Pope’s death.
