A judge of the Supreme Court of Quebec decided that two people from hobility to the United States were exposed to delivery, where they were exposed to charges for a human smuggling on the St. Lawrence River, which ended on March 29, 2023 with the drowning of nine people.
Judge Gregory Moore said that the federal crown had submitted enough evidence to meet the low proof standard for this phase of the delivery process.
“This is a very limited role and should only decide whether there is an apparent case whether a … crime was committed,” said Moore.
“The delivery judge did not hear any legal proceedings, and the process in front of the judge should be faster and only decide whether a procedure should be held.”
The Federal Minister of Justice will make the final decision on delivery.
Stephanie Square and Rahsontanohstha Delormier are both sought in the United States to face one for the northern district of New York at the US Federal Court in connection with the drowning of a family of four from India and a Romanian-Canadian family with two small children.
While the alleged roles of Square and Delormier are very different in the tragedy, their cases were heard together during this phase of the delivery process.
Romanian citizens Florian Iordache, Cristina Iordache and her two children, born in Canada, Evelin, 2 and Elyen, 16 months, drowned on March 29, 2023, when the boat, which she moved on the St. Lawrence river in stormy weather, traveled by boat.
They shared the boat with a family of four from India, Father Pravindbhai Chaudhari, mother dakskhaft Chaudhari and their two adult children, son mit kumar and daughter vidhiden. Cornwall Island’s boat started to the southern banks of St. Lawrence, but never made it.
The corpses of the two families were pulled out of the river between 30 and 31 March.
The body of Casey Oakes, the residents of the boat based in nasne, was found in July.
Hakersse is a skin-on-sauce community that is separated from the Canada-US limit. It is located about 120 kilometers west of Montreal and its territory is located between Ontario, Quebec and New York State.
The Chaudhari family in Canada over Visitservisa paid 100,000 US dollars and the Iordaches, which were deported, paid about $ 15,000 to a human smuggling network that was allegedly cited by a Montreal man named Thesingarasan Rasiah. Both families wanted to enter the USA
The RCMP accused Rasiah, who was in custody in June 2024, numerous charges for human smuggling.
Case goes to the minister
This case now goes to the Federal Minister of Justice to determine whether they should be handed over to the US site, and delormier have 30 days to submit an interim and an appointment. You can also submit the minister.
The minister’s delivery decision can also be questioned before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Joel Girard, lawyer of Square, said that she would appeal to the Federal Minister directly via a letter that he should reject the delivery application. Girard wonders whether the United States is responsible to pursue criminal charges because of the deaths on the river because they have taken place within the Canadian territory.
“A suspected crime committed in Canada should be persecuted in Canada,” said Girard.

The Montreal attorney of Delormier, Antonio Cabral, said that he had planned to apply for a preliminary publication for delormier. Cabral said he also planned to make an appeal against Moore’s decision and apply for a Gladue report for Delormier. Girard said he would also try to send the minister a Gladue report for the place.
Gladue reports are basically like reports before the past, which include the historical effects of expropriation and colonialism on the lives of indigenous offenders. However, there is case law for the use of Gladue reports in the delivery process.
Cabral said he intended to fight Delormier’s delivery “with all my power and energy”.
Square is faced with eight charges, including extraterrestrial smuggling, conspiracy, in order to cause an alien smuggling, the prize smuggling of extraterrestrials and four charges of extraterrestrial smuggling, which caused death for each of the late Romanian-Canadian families.
Delormier looks five charges, including conspiracies to make alien smuggling, alien smuggling and alien smuggling for profit.
A large part of the US case against Delormier and Square is based on the evidence collected by the Canadian authorities, as can be seen from the publicly available records. Square was the alleged organizer of the run, the Casey Oakes supposedly committed to bring the two families across the river.
Delormer was found on the edge of March 30 on the edge of the hypothermia on an island. The delivery file claims that he had piloted a boat bought by Square, which was broken off on the way to Cornwall Island, where the families were waiting to be smuggled.
