As a political stuntman, the Posses of the British politician Ed Davey were able to fill a highlight role.
The leader of the Liberal Democrats of Great Britain injected Bungee from a giant crane to gather voters, to shovel sheep on a Welsh farm to protest against tax increases for farmers, and plunged from a paddle board to underline the risk of raw water in British waterway.
But now Davey, with the US President Donald Trump’s tariff war, is trying to gain British voters to a new thing: to support Canada.
For his latest political stunt, Davey broke through a Canada flag in a Canadian pub in the center of London on Wednesday and invited the local media to eat with him on a menadian poutine, Beaver Tails and Canadian beer.
“I would like to make sure people know that the British with Canada,” Davey told CBC News at the improvised event in the Maple Leaf Pub in Covent Garden.
“President Trump behaves ruthlessly, irresponsible and to treat Canada, one of his closest allies … in this way it is not terrible.”
The 59 -year -old Davey led the Lib Dems to their best election exhibition in almost a century in the elections of last year, won 72 seats and broke the party to a solid third place in Parliament.
His unconventional, attentive stunts became one of the keys to get voters to deal with the party’s campaign.
“I think if President Trump gets away with this kind of behavior, be it Canada or someone else, to be honest, it will harm everyone in the world,” said Davey when he was excavated in a plate of the poutine.
“I think we have to choose,” he said. “We have to be behind Canada.”
In parliament, Davey repeatedly expressed support for Canada and described Trump as “playground bullet”.
On Wednesday, Davey asked the British Prime Minister Keir Starrer to fly to Canada immediately in order to be in solidarity with his most important Commonwealth partner.

In his reaction, Starrer fell and called Canada “an important ally” and emphasized the desire to negotiate an economic agreement with Trump, avoiding punitive measures for criminal trading.
Trump’s 25 percent tariffs for all US steel and aluminum imports – also from Great Britain – joined Wednesday. The measure could possibly affect about five percent of British exports and, according to BBC, make it more expensive for US consumers.
While Starer indicates that he is holding back a retaliation for the moment, the European Commission said on Wednesday that it would impose many $ 28 billion worth $ 28 billion.
“We are very interested in working with our European colleagues, but we also want to work with our Commonwealth colleagues,” said Davey.
“And I think there is strength in numbers and I think it sends a very, very big sign.”

During his last visit to overseas as Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau scored King Charles to discuss what was called “sovereignty”.
While Charles did not speak publicly about friction between Canada and the USA, British media reports have pointed out that the king is very concerned.
In one of his most recent public appearances, Charles was seen how he wore his Canadian medals in his military uniform. It also planted a Canadian maple tree on the site of the Buckingham Palace to celebrate Commonwealth.
On Wednesday, according to a press release, King Charles awarded the Buckingham Palace Gregory Peters, the Black Rod of the Senate of Canada of the Senate of Canada, a nationwide sword.
And at the ceremony in the Westminster Abbey, which marked the Commonwealth Day on Monday, Catherine, the princess of Wales, red and white was dressed.
Canada’s high commissioner of Great Britain Ralph Goodale told CBC News that he believed that the Canadiana shows were intended and aimed at showing political support.
“Nothing happens with the royal family,” he said.
Nevertheless, most of the support of Canada was largely symbolic.
As with the measured response from Starrer in the British Parliament, many foreign leaders have taken care not to insult or estrange the unpredictable US president.
“I was very impressed by the way the Canadian governments, whether Trudeau and now Carney, were strong against Trump,” said Davey.
With regard to his first trip to Canadian Poutine, Davey joked that the fries looked “super healthy” with sauce and cheese quark.
“Who wouldn’t want it,” he joked.
