The father of the 20-year-old student of the University of Pittsburgh Sudiksha Konanki, who was missing in the popular city of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, said during the spring holidays with friends that he had asked the authorities to expand their investigations.
Konanki was last seen on a beach near the resort on March 6, on which she lived, according to civil protection officers.
“It is four days, and if she were in the water, she would probably have been scattered on land,” her father Subbarayudu Konanki told WTOP-FM.
“It is not found, so we ask you to examine several options such as kidnapping or kidnapping.”
On Monday, the authorities used drones, helicopters and discovery dogs to search the water off the east coast of the island on which it was last seen last, Jensen Sánchez, a spokeswoman for civil defense, told The Associated Press.
“The search is in progress because it suspects that she has drowned. According to the boy who was with her, the waves swept away, but that examines the police,” he said.
He noticed that it can take more than a week for a body to appear in warm waters.
Official complaint submitted
When her family found out about her disappearance, Subbarayudu Konanki and his wife Sreedevi flew to Punta Cana with two friends of the family. He and a friend of the family submitted a complaint on Sunday and asked the authorities to expand the investigation.
The complaint notes that the things of the students, including their phone and wallet, remain with their friends, “which is unusual because she always carried her phone with her.”
“In view of these circumstances, I respectfully ask that the authorities take immediate measures in order not only to examine the possibility of a random drowning, but also the possibility of kidnapping or a foul,” he wrote according to WTOP-FM.
Sudiksha Konanki, a citizen of India, is a constant resident of Chantilly, Virginia, in Chantilly, Virginia, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials from the University of Pittsburgh have contact with the family and the authorities in Virginia and offered their support in the efforts to find the missing pupil and bring them home safely, the school said in a statement.
Konanki and five other university students traveled to the Dominican Republic on March 3, according to their father.
“She wanted to take a nice break with her friends in Punta Cana,” he said.
