In a new report by the committee for the protection of journalists, on Wednesday it became that 2024 killed a record number of journalists all over the world.

Israel was responsible for almost 70 percent of the people killed last year, with Sudan and Pakistan having the second highest fatalities for deaths, according to the results of the report.

The committee’s report stated that at least 124 journalists were killed in 18 different countries last year, which was the most deadliest year for reporters and media employees since CPJ began collecting the data and logging it off more than three decades ago.

The number of journalists and media workers who were killed compared to previous years in 2024 has increased significantly. According to the report, 102 were killed in 2023 and 69 were killed in 2022.

The former records were almost half of the Iraq war in 2007 when 113 journalists lost their lives, said CPJ.

Sudan and Pakistan had the second highest number of journalists who were killed in Israel in 2024.

Of these, 31 freelancers were killed in Gaza and rose from 14 in 2023.
