The campaign of US President Donald Trump for the elimination of diversity and language of government organizations has officially reached the moon, whereby NASA triggered information on its promise to land the first woman and the first color of the color on the moon surface of several of her websites.
Five years ago, the space agency promised that its Artemis program achieved both goals and at the same time brought the first non-American astronaut to the moon.
However, the references to it were recently withdrawn by the NASA website.
On March 14th it says on the main page for the Artemis program: “NASA will use the first woman, the first person of the color and the first international astronaut on the moon by using innovative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface than ever,” said a snapshot that was recorded by the Wayback machine, an Internet archive.
This judgment had disappeared until March 16.
The space agency also extinguished a page that was also kept on the Wayback machine and was inspired by a graphic novel inspired by the Artemis missions who told a fictional story about the first woman on the moon.
Elsewhere on the NASA website, the language is still there – a 2023 Article Through Artemis III mission it means that she will land on the moon surface “The first woman and first color of the color”.
When asked about these moves, the space agency confirmed that it owes Trump, which enacted instructions against diversity, justice and inclusion (Dei) in January.
“In accordance with an executive ordinance signed by President Trump, NASA updates its language to better reflect the core mission of the Artemis campaign: to return astronauts to the lunar surface. NASA remains to be oriented towards the instructions of the white house and the guarantee of mission success,” said a spokesman in an explanation to CBC news.
It added: “The change in the language does not indicate a change in the crew assignments.”
The revisions of the website will be carried out in the middle of a wave of companies and government organizations, the DEI programs will remove and censor the language, which apparently seems to celebrate diversity. Trump has related to such programs that historically aim to correct inequalities when setting as “discrimination”.
According to Space.com, NASA, an agency of the US government, reported to close offices related to Dei and accessibility at the end of January.
The Artemis program is according to the twin sister of Apollo, the Greek God, who made the name available for the first moon missions.
A total of 24 people were on the moon, all white, American men, of which 12 went on the surface. Nobody has entered the surface of the moon since 1972 when Nasa -Astronaut Eugene Cernan ended the last Apollo mission.
NASA had initially planned to land on the moon with Artemis III by 2024, but this mission was delayed and is now not expected earlier than in 2026.
The crew for Artemis II, which is due to circle the moon without landing next year, consists of NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch as well as the Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen.
