On Thursday, the South Korean military investigators accused two pilots of the Air Force due to an accidental bombing of a village last week during a training exercise that injured at least 29 people and caused extensive damage to property.
The investigators of the Ministry of Defense have confirmed that the pilots were “direct factors” behind the random bombings in the coordinates in the aircraft systems, according to a declaration by the ministry.
A social media video checked by Reuters, which compares the scene with existing satellite images and the comparison of the attitude with its own image of the consequences, shows an explosion after an Air Force Jet incorrectly made bombs in Pocheon, in which around 160,000 inhabitants were born and at least 15 people.
The pilots were charged with criminal negligence that caused physical damage, said the command and added that the investigation of the incident had not yet been completed.
Eight unhested air-surface bombs were launched by two fighter planes and ended up in a village in Pocheon near the border with North Korea during the living accidents.
In several areas in Pocheon and the neighboring regions, a training grounds are used by the South Korean and the US military.
For years, the residents have complained about potential security risks and disorders from military units in the region.
The two pilots were taken from air duties and a review of their flight mission certification is planned, an official of the ministry said.
The head of the Air Force has apologized for the accident and committed to checking mission procedures to prevent similar incidents.
North Korea, which the south Korean and US military, who routinely addresses military exercises, said the accident had shown the risk of an armed conflict, and quoted the possibility that the bombs could have fallen north of the border.
