US President Donald Trump continues to testify that he wants to end the war in Ukraine, although it is not clear that his Russian counterpart is on the same side as this could happen.
“It is time to end this bloodshed and restore peace, and I think we’ll do it,” said Trump on Monday.
Trump met with French President Emmanuel Macron in the White House to discuss the war in Ukraine, a step when the country marks with Russia for three years in conflicts with Russia.
While he spoke to reporters during the visit of Macron, he believed that Russian President Vladimir Putin would accept the European peace troops in Ukraine as part of a potential deal to end war, and found that he asked the Russian leader this question had.
But Putin said on Monday that he had not spoken in detail about the solution to the conflict in Ukraine with Trump, and the Russian and American negotiation teams when they met in Saudi Arabia last week.
In comments that were broadcast on state television, Putin also said that Russia does not exclude European countries that take part in a peace settlement.
Putin and high -ranking Russian officials had previously stated that they would not accept Western armed forces in Ukraine.
The end of the war is in the interests of Russia: Trump
Back in Washington, Trump was asked by a reporter why he believes that he can trust Putin to negotiate about Ukraine.
The US President said he believed that it was in Russia’s advantage to “complete a deal” to end the war.
“I really think he wants to make a deal,” said Trump and referred to Putin. “I like to be wrong, but I think he wants to make a deal.”
Macron, at a joint press conference with Trump after her meeting, said her conversations were productive and admitted that the European nations had to do more to strengthen defense on the continent. But Macron also warned of the surrender of Russia.

“This peace must not be handed over to Ukraine,” said Macron. “It must not mean ceasefire without guarantees. This peace must allow Ukrainian sovereignty.”
Ukraine has exposed itself to the war for three years since Russia on February 24, 2022, since Russia launched its far -reaching, full invasion of its neighbor. Since then, the war has killed thousands of Ukrainian civilians and built daily life there.
“Very close” for minerals
On Monday, too, Trump stated that he believed that the United States and Ukraine were close to an agreement on resources that would enable US access to the rare earth minerals in Ukraine.
“It looks like we are coming very close,” said Trump at the beginning of his bilateral meeting with Macron reporters.
He added that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could visit Washington this week or next to the deal.
The Trump government has pushed Ukraine to agree to the mineral contract, and the president says that he wanted “compensation” for the support that Washington Kyiv gave in the fight with Russia. Trump had proposed that he wanted to see the United States somewhere in the neighborhood of $ 500 billion.
But the officials of Zelenskyy and Ukrainian officials have so far refused to sign a proposal that US officials were initially brought up.
Ukraine is also looking for future security guarantees as part of an agreement. However, Trump did not say whether the aspiring deal would include American security guarantees.
“Europe will make sure that nothing happens,” said Trump.
Zelenskyy met on Monday in Kyiv with 13 western leaders – including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau – where they gathered for a summit for peace and security for Ukraine.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who spoke in Kyiv on the 3rd anniversary of the full invasion of Russia in Kyiv, called Russia’s unjustified, brutal war war and promised more help and equipment for the struggle of Ukraine.
