US President Donald Trump said that on Saturday he ordered a number of air raids in the capital Sanaa and promised to use “overwhelming fatal violence” until the Iranian Houthi rebels set up their attacks on shipping along an important maritime corridor. The Ministry of Health operated by Houthi said nine civilians were killed.
“Our brave war fighters are conducting air strikes to the bases, leaders and rocket defenses of the terrorists to protect American shipping, air and marine assets and to restore freedom of navigation,” said Trump in a social media post.
“No terrorist power will prevent American trade and naval vessels from sailing the waterways of the world freely.”
He also warned Iran to no longer support the rebel group and promised to keep the country “completely accountable” for the actions of its deputy.
It comes two weeks after the US leader had sent a letter to the Iranian leaders and offers a way to restart bilateral conversations between the countries about the Iranian program of the Iranian nuclear weapons, from which Trump said he will not allow it to become in operation.
The Houthis reported a number of explosions in their territory on Saturday evening. Pictures in circulation online show black clouds of smoke in the area of the Sanaa airport complex, which includes a spacious military facility.
At least nine people were killed, said Anees al-Asbahi, spokesman for the Health Ministry operated by Houthi. In a statement on social media, he said that more nine had been wounded.
Nasruddin Amer, deputy head of the Houthi Media Office, said
“Sanaa will remain a sign and support and not give it up regardless of the challenges,” he added on social media.
Houthis refuses to restart the attacks of the Red Sea
The air strikes come a few days after the Houthis said they would resume attacks on Israeli ships, which sail in gaza in waters in front of Yemen in response to the blockade of Israel. Since then, no Houthi attacks have been reported.
At the beginning of this month, Israel stopped any help in Gaza and warned of “additional consequences” for Hamas if her fragile ceasefire is not extended during the war, since negotiations on the start of a second phase are continued.
The Houthis had described their warning as the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, Bab El-Mandeb-Straße and the Arab Sea.

The Houthi rebels targeted over 100 merchant ships with rockets and drones, sunk two ships and killed four seafarers, while at the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas at the end of 2023 to January this year they aimed at a weak Weasfire in Gaza.
The attacks have raised the profile of the Houthis considerably because they had economic problems and an action against every contradiction and the aid employees at home in the middle of the decades of war war in Yemen, which torn the poorest nation in the Arab world.
The United States, Israel and Great Britain previously met Houthi in Yemen. Israel’s military refused to comment.
“It was like an earthquake”
The Houthi Media Office said that the US strikes had hit “a residential area” in the northern district of Sanaa in Shouab. The residents of Sanaa said that at least four air raids shaked the Eastern region of the Shouab district and women and children were terrifying.
“The explosions were very strong,” said Abdallah al-Alffi. “It was like an earthquake.”
According to a US official, Saturday operation against the Houthis was carried out exclusively by the United States. It was the first strike on the Houthis based in Yemen under the second Trump government, and it comes after a time of relative calm in the region.
The recent attacks on ships launched by the Houthi Milizia Group of Yemen have threatened one of the world’s most important trade routes – the Suez channel. While several readership is distracting their ships, producer Lauren Bird explains the economic effects of everything.
Such broad and planned rocket attacks against the Houthis were carried out several times by the bidet administration in response to frequent attacks by the Houthis against commercial and military ships in the region.
The USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, which includes the carrier, three Navy destroyers and a cruiser, are in the Red Sea and were part of the mission. The Uss Georgia Cruise rocket’s USS boat is also in operation in the region.
Trump announced the strikes when he spent the day in his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
“These relentless attacks cost the US and the global economy many billion dollars while at the same time endangered innocent life,” said Trump.
