The heads of state and government of the European Union said on Thursday that they would continue to support Ukraine, but they did not immediately approve a call from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a package of at least five billion euros (7.8 billion US dollar) for artillery purchases.
“We need funds for artillery mussels and would very much appreciate the support of Europe … as soon as possible,” Zelenskyy told the EU’s meeting in Brussels about VideoLink.
As an arrival at the summit in Brussels, the head of foreign policy of the block Kaja Kallas had also asked the leaders to support Kyiv with deeds, as US President Donald Trump progresses his efforts to end the war, also through relation with Russia.
“The stronger they are on the battlefield, the stronger they are behind the negotiating table,” said Kallas about the Ukrainians.
In the statement that all leaders at the meeting approved – apart from Hungary Viktor Orban – they promised to “continue to provide Ukraine regularly and predictable financial support”. They also said that the Member States should “urgently strengthen the efforts to fulfill the urgent military and defense needs of Ukraine.
In a call with US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that there was no Russian energy infrastructure for 30 days. Russia agreed to do the same for Ukraine the day before, but Zelenskyy claims that Moscow had already violated the deal.
However, there was no concrete answer to Kallas’ suggestion to concentrate on what Zelenskyy says that he is most urgently needed, e.g.
Kallas has already used a proposal to commit military aid for Ukraine military aid this year military help, whereby each country contributes to its economic size. This happened after the resistance of some countries, especially in southern Europe.
Zelenskyy throws more light on Trump Call
Zelenskyy said on Thursday that Ukrainian experts would be present with the United States and Russia at upcoming talks, but would not be in the same space as Russia.
Russian and US experts should be discussed during the Monday talks in Saudi Arabia about a possible peace regulation, the safety of shipping in the Black Sea is discussed via a possible peace settlement, said the Kremlin.
The Ukrainian leader also said on Thursday that he had not discussed the potential US property at the Ukrainian nuclear power plant Zaporizhzhia on Thursday, which has recently been occupied by Russia after the invasion of February 2022.
According to a statement by US Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and the national security advisor Mike Waltz, the two guides discussed “electrical care and nuclear power plants in Ukraine” on Wednesday.
Zelenskyy also said reporters in Norway that Trump had not raised any questions about the status of the Russian Crimea during the conversations with him. He was asked about reports that the US President is considering recognizing the peninsula as part of Russia.
When the Brussels summit continued, high -ranking military officers from countries all over Europe and beyond on Thursday outside of London met to contain plans for international peacekeeping for Ukraine.
The British Prime Minister Keir Starrer said that the “coalition of the willing”, listed by Great Britain and France, said in an “operational phase”. However, it is unclear how many countries are willing to send troops and whether there will first be a ceasefire.
The first courses were questioned
In the meantime, the Ukrainian soldiers in Kursk have lost the ground in the last few days, but have not creeped up by Russian armed forces, three US and European civil servants who are familiar with the intelligence agencies of the governments, said Reuters. This contradicts the latest comments from Trump and Putin.
US intelligence agencies, including the CIA, shared this evaluation with the White House last week, said a US official and another person who was familiar with the matter. However, Trump has continued to say that Ukrainian troops are surrounded by West Russia.

In a social media post on March 14, Trump said that he asked the Russian president to save the life of thousands of Ukrainians, which he said, be “completely surrounded” and vulnerable. Putin said that he would do it if they would arise. Trump repeated the claim on Tuesday in a FOX News interview.
The Institute for the Study of War, a conflict monitor based in the United States, said on March 14 that “it had not been observed that the Russian armed forces were unable to use a considerable number of Ukrainian armed forces in Kursk or elsewhere along the front in Ukraine.”
The US National Security Council did not answer questions about the intelligence agency estimates, but referred Reuters to Rubio and Waltz’s joint explanation.
The White House, the CIA and the Office of the Director of the National Secret Service rejected a comment.
Zelenskyy’s office and the Russian embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to inquiries about comments.
Zelenskyy denied that the Ukrainian armed forces are surrounded and said Putin lied through reality on site. The Ukrainian leader recognized that his military is in a difficult position in Kursk and expects him to continue to give attacks from Russia because it is trying to get the Ukrainian forces out of the region.
Russian base beat
In the fight against Thursday, Ukraine met a large Russian strategic bomber airfield with drones that triggered a large explosion and was about 700 kilometers away from the front of the war, said Russian and Ukrainian officials.
Videos verified by Reuters showed a huge explosion that spread from the airfield and broke out near Cottage. The Russian Ministry of Defense said that air defenses had dropped 132 Ukrainian drones about Russian regions.

Other verified videos showed a huge cloud of smoke that rose to the dawn and an intensive fire.
The basis in Engels, which goes back to the Soviet period, houses Russia’s Tupolev TU-160 Nuclear-capable heavy strategic bombers, which are unofficially known as white swans.
The Ukraine Ministry of Defense said that its armed forces had hit the airfield and triggered secondary detonations of ammunition. Kyiv said Russia used the angel base to carry out strikes for Ukraine.
Ten people were injured in the attack, said local officials.
