The democratic US senator Chris Van Hollen met on Thursday with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the man who was wrongly deported to El Salvador, in a case in which a defiant Trump government was led against the dishes and the prospect of a constitutional conflict was praised.
The senator has published an image on X in El Salvador with Abrego Garcia, which was refused a day after the refusal of access to the notorious prison for gang members in which it was recorded.
“I said my main goal of this trip (on El Salvador) was to meet with Kilmar. I had this chance this evening. I called his wife Jennifer to pass on his message of love. I look forward to offering a complete update when I returned,” wrote van Hollen.

The U.S.’s Supreme Court has instructed President Donald Trump’s administration to facilitate Abego Garcia’s return after Washington recognized that he was deported due to an administrative error.
In an explanation except the judgment, the Liberal Supreme Court said that Sonia Sotomayor, the government, had no basis for what Abego Garcia’s “Guardian Heavy” called, nor as he was deprived of or detention in El Salvador.
Abrego Garcia’s lawyers say that he has never been charged with crime or convicted of crime and denies the accusation of the US Ministry of Justice, he belongs to the criminal gang MS-13.
US Border Czar says Garcia is “at home”
However, the US government has given no indication that it wants to obtain his return and said that she had no authority to dismiss a man from a foreign prison, and to increase the potential for a constitutional conflict, should Trump defy the highest court.
In an explanation after the meeting, the deputy spokesman for the White House, Kush Desai, repeated the unproven allegation that Abrego Garcia was a member of MS-13.
“Chris van Hollen has established Democrats as the party, whose top priority is the well-being of an illegal extraterrestrial MS-13 terrorist,” said Desai.
“It is really disgusting. President Trump will continue to be on the side of the lawful Americans.”
Trump’s Grenzzar, Tom Homan, told CNN that the man belonged to prison despite the guideline of the Supreme Court.
“He is a citizen of El Salvador and he is in El Salvador. He is at home,” said Homan.
“I think we did the right thing, I think he’s where he should be. Even if he comes back … he is detained and it is removed according to the order of distance.”
Together with Abrego Garcia, the Trump government El Salvador has hundreds of people, mainly Venezuelans, of whom they say that they are gang members according to the extraterrestrial enemy law of 1798, without negotiation and without court proceedings.
A US district judge, James Boasberg, has already threatened administrative officers with criminal matters about the deportations.
Boasberg said that the government had proven “intentional disregard” for his decision on March 15 with the deportation to El Salvador according to the law of 1798.
Salvadoran civil servants have also shown no interest in publishing Abrego Garcia.
During a meeting with Trump in the White House on Monday, El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele said that he had no plans to return Abrego Garcia.
El Salvadorean President Nayib Bukele in Washington For a meeting with US President Donald Trump asked a question about the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a US court applications based in Maryland, who admitted that an administrative error was deported. Bukele dismissed the question as “absurd” and proposed that Garcia, a citizen of El Salvador, whom Bukele called “terrorist” without evidence, also described in this country.
Bukele also posted pictures of the encounter with van Hollen on social media, followed by a contribution that says that he would remain in the care of the Central American country.
“After being confirmed healthy, he receives the honor of staying in El Salvador’s care,” said Bukele.
Van Hollen, the US senator from Maryland, where Abrego Garcia lived, arrived in El Salvador on Wednesday to meet high-ranking civil servants and to support himself for his release.
It was not immediately clear what changed to enable the Senator’s access.
The 29-year-old Abrego Garcia left El Salvador at the age of 16 to escape violence in connection with the gang, his lawyers informed and received a protection order in 2019 to continue living in the United States.
Representatives of Abrego Garcia and van Hollen did not immediately answer an inquiry about further comments about the meeting.
