Ange Postecoglou believes that Tottenham has reached a point where even the “good things” they produce will attract an element of criticism.
The Spurs coach was answering a question about Mathys Tel, who struck a last-minute penalty to defend a 3-1 win over Southampton on Sunday, despite Brennan Johnson had the opportunity to complete a hat-trick.
Spurs win over the Bottom Club Saints – who moved to the process – was their first in the five Premier League appearances while they fight in the table at the table after losing 16 League matches this season.
“We scored, won. Satisfied. It’S’S’S incredible. If we are 2-1 up and get a penalty in the last minute, I want our best penalty holder to take it,” Postecoglou said.
“An easy one against this club is that it has not been a winner. The winners’ mentality in the last minute is to score. We scored and somehow, in this alternative universe, all that Tottenham does is negative.”
Tottenham travels to Wolves at the weekend with the third weaker record in the Division, but before then returning to the Europa League action waiting for Eintracht Frankfurt, with many suggestions in the future of Postecoglou in the club may depend on whether or not it can save a weak season of 17-year-old club drought.
Opta sets their chances of winning the competition at 17 percent.
Spurs have won only one of their last 13 games in Europe’s quarter -finals, but have triumphed in two previous home matches against Thursday Frankfurt, who won the Europa League themselves in 2022.
“Even the good things we can do are turn into” semi -empty “rhetoric,” Postecoglou continued. “This may not be a driver. Dads are inclined to bring success to the club, keeping the principles of this trip to play our football.
“Hopefully we have worked our way in a position where we can make an impact on a disappointing season. I don’t think I can win the argument of people’s conviction. The general feeling of people is ‘even if I win (Europa League) I have gone anyway.’
“We’re in a quarter -final, we don’t want to let it slip or have a wrong thought. I think the players are handling it well, embracing the challenge.”
Tottenham damage problems have been significantly alleviated, however the main Miss will be Dejan Kulusevski, who has three goals in Europe this year, while Kevin Danso also remains missing.
Postecoglou added: “We have taken ourselves in a position where we have an opportunity to progress in the last stages. We need to focus on a strong home performance.
“Important is important that we play the football we want to play, we are returning to maintain our levels.
“I’ve said before (criticism) is not what pushes me. I came with a clear vision – changing the way the team plays to renovate the team because it was coming to the end of a cycle. Despite the noise, I don’t see why it should reduce my ambition and the desire to make it happen.
“Everything you achieve in life usually comes with a war. That’s just another war. I never thought I lost the will to fight. I will continue to do it.”
