The title of the Arsenal Premier League title hopes they are over and they need to worry more about providing the Champions League qualification than the capture of Liverpool, according to Heavenly Pundit Roy Keane.
Declan Rice canceled Bruno Fernandes free kick while the Gunners came from behind to draw 1-1 with Manchester United on Sunday, but the result leaves them 15 points behind the leaders.
They sit six points ahead of the fourth chelsea, with Man City eight points after the fifth. Traditionally, a high-four end-of-the-four ensures the Champions League qualification, though this may extend to five places this term, depending on the shows of English clubs in Europe.
Arsenal prevailed in possession of long magic in Old Trafford but tried to create chances before finishing for the first time of Rice in the 74th minute. Then they owed David Raya’s goalkeeper heroism to keep their level in the closing stages.
Arsenal scored seven in their breakdown in the PSV Eindhoven Champions League in mid -week, but have only found the net once in their last three Premier League matches between Bukayo Saka’s injuries, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
Gabriel Martinelli returned from his Hamstring problem as a replacement at Old Trafford but Keane was left untreated by Arsenal’s mentality as they failed to take advantage of United’s battles and obtain victory.
“If you have no advantage and you are not scoring goals, forget about closing any gap in Liverpool,” Keane said Heavenly. “You have to worry more about the teams that come after you.”
Paul Merson, sitting along with Keane, said: “The fifth in the league are closer to Arsenal than what Arsenal is first. I would say now, ‘We must focus on making sure we end up in the first four’.
“It’s starting to get a little tight there and Manchester City has received some nice equipment at the moment. It wouldn’t surprise me if Man City, who I think is fifth at the moment if they can catch Arsenal.”
Keane added: “Arsenal scored seven a week, but they didn’t have anything bad for them today. In the end, you are probably thinking that United will win it, and they have been terrible.
“I would look at their mentality and think,” Where was it? “You have to smell the united to get, but Arsenal was not in the direction of the road.
“Arsenal has done well and made progress in recent years, but the next step is the most difficult. If you are Arsenal, what benefit is the second to you? You want to be winning titles.
“I haven’t seen an arsenal pair that are similar to the car they knew Man Utd was there to get. I was not happy with their opinion. Forget about Liverpool, worry about the teams behind them.
“Liverpool will look at it and not thinking they will be under pressure, they will think Arsenal has almost given up on the title.
“There is that surprising issue, of course, but I still thought it would have that mentality of doing work. If anything, it was the opposite.”
Keane added that he suspects Arsenal’s potential to win the Premier League title under the arts after second place ends, especially after expecting Liverpool and Manchester City to be stronger next season.
“What makes you think the manager can do it?” He said. “They have approached in recent years, but City will be strong next year and I’m sure Liverpool will be too.
“Where are the evidence to think they can do it? Getting an attacker will help, have they got the right mentality? Has the manager?
“I don’t think getting an attacker in who will score 20 goals a season will necessarily be the change.
“Will City and Liverpool still stand? They will seek to improve, PEP will jump again and I think Liverpool will be stronger next season. We don’t know where Chelsea are, but what are the rehearsals from this group of players that can do?
“Good challenging altea, but it should have to do with the titles of profit.”
REDKNAPP: Signature of the attacker can get Arsenal again by challenging
Jamie Redknapp disagreed with Keane’s assertion that signing an attacker would not turn Arsenal into titles winners, but admitted they would have to bring to the right player by losing “joy” in their game this season.
“There is a real concentration in the parts set this season and it is not working for them at the moment,” Redknapp on said Heavenly.
“There has been no joy in the Arsenal game this season compared to the past, a year ago and a year before that with (Granite) Jaka in midfield.
“I just don’t see it. Even with Bukayo Saka, there were home games where they couldn’t finish the teams. They didn’t finish the teams the same way.”
He added: “I am sure if they sign an elite striker they will challenge the title. But how difficult are they to find?
“They always talk to (Alexander) Isaac, he is definitely elite with the goals he has taken and how he plays. But would Arsenal be the only one for him if he leaves?
“(Benjamin) Sesko, too, they are mentioned with him, but it is only a case of an attacker. Although Kai Havertz has done well, they signed it as No. 8.
“Then you ask him to be a killer in the box – will he get 20 per season? That’s Salah’s numbers. That’s what they should try to find, and if they do with their protective stability they will surely go near the next season.”
Neville: The striker’s absence has dedicated to them
Gary Neville underlined the importance of the club’s failure to sign an attacker, saying the arts and his players have the right to feel “released” by the club not to act faster.
Arsenal again used Mikel Merino as a makeshift striker in Old Trafford but Spain International, a natural midfielder, was unable to make an impact.
“I think these players can fall down. I think the manager can feel released,” he added Gary Neville Podcast. “I think they should have been supplied over the past year or more with an attacker.
“I’m talking about an attacker, and Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus. For me, they have left themselves miserable to attack the players. They have had injuries, but you have to plan on it.
“You have to be able to call people and rely on your bench and your team and was more visible in the first half than ever.
“They don’t have a focal point above, which can do the job for them. Liverpool has better offensive options.”
