Mikel Artesa refused to criticize Anthony Taylor for sending Arsenal’s defensive wall too far for Bruno Fernandes’ free kick in their 1-1 draw, but said the Manchester United captain had been “smarter” than the benefit judge to benefit from his good strike.
Broadcasting technology revealed that Taylor marched Arsenal’s 11.2 jard back line, further than the 10 minimum jar required in the laws of the game, before Fernandes made a dead ball within the nearby post shortly before half the time.
“At the end of the day the judge is pushing them too far, which is a mistake, but you would usually think you are too far away and crawl forward,” Gary Neville said Gary Neville Podcast.
“They do not do it and it concludes that Bruno Fernandes has the ability to play it on the wall.”
The united captain’s technique was excellent, but, like Neville, you Of Sunday Super Pundits asked if his goal would be possible if the Arsenal’s five -player wall would be closer.
The arts refused to withdraw to the incident, just to congratulate Fernandes on using the advantage as much as it was given.
“He has been smart and he benefited, that is, football,” he told him Heavenly. “He has been smarter than Ref. That’s okay, they allowed him to do it.”
Declan Rice player, who scored Arsenal’s draw after half the time, blamed the goal for himself and other members of the Gunners wall, though he also felt he was pushed too far.
“He felt as if a couple of us jumped and some of us did not. Heavenly. “It felt like the ball flew over us at a very low height, so from the wall point of view, we could have done much better.
“The wall felt too far away. Even in our free blow, when Martin (Odegaard) took it, they felt too far away, more than usual. But the judge makes that decision.”
After half the time, another free kick from Martin Odegaard was lined up when Taylor again seemed to exceed 10 yards when marking where Man Utd’s defensive wall could stand.
While Neville had suggested Arsenal to do, Noussair Mazraoui asked Taylor about distance, while the wall himself crawls forward before the Odegaard strike – and did his job when his attempt retired for security.
Manchester United coach chief Ruben Amorim told Heavenly He had noticed issues with both free blows, but did not intend to help Arsenal ahead of Fernanda’s opening.
He said: “It was clear, both free kicks. So when it’s your free kick, you say nothing. When it’s the opponent, you try to push because it’s a big difference.
“It was right, one for us, one for them. We had Bruno and he solved the problem.”
Man Utd midfielder Christian Eriksen, who has scored eight free Premier League blows, explained after the game considerable change even 1.2 additional yards would make for a dead ball specialist.
“It makes a great difference,” he told Heavenly. “When the ball is on the wall, you do not need to hit it as high – descending into the statistics and how far they are back and how many meters and how they jump. So it is lighter and gives bruno a little more space to place it on the wall.
“It was great. It helped the wall was about 15 meters away, so it was perfect for it to finish it.
“I saw it early (that the wall was a right way out). Even before the blow you can see how far they were, and it was the same when they had it in the second half – we were certainly a little angry with Ref (at that point) to set us so far after I saw Bruno scored.
“But I think it was just useful to us.”
