Callum Smith will welcome leaving at Cruiserweight to challenge Badou Jack for his world title WBC.
Smith, a former super-medium WBA World Titul, defeated Joshua Buatsi in an exciting war last month.
This victory provided Smith a temporary WBO belt, placing it in the main position to challenge a world championship in its second division.
But he could be tempted to go high in weight and fight Jack for the WBC title in 200 BS.
“I would like Badou Jack’s war,” said Smith Heavenly. “It’s a war that I would seize the opportunity.
“I do not classify myself as a full cruculous weight, but I do not classify it as one. I think it is definitely a war I would consider if it could be done.”
The goal of Smith is to become a world-weight world champion and boxing for a 175LB title is a more immediate opportunity-if this is challenging the undisputed undisputed sample Dmitry Bivol, boxing for a free belt, or being raised from the temporary champion to the full world.
Having Bivol boxing 13 years ago when they were amateurs, Smith would welcome a professional competition with the new undisputed champion.
“He is the man in separation,” Smith said. “We are waiting to see what he will do with his future. He has all the belts, so he will get a small portion of the mandates.
“He will go with the war that has the greatest meaning for himself financially, whether it is trilogy (with Artur Beterbiev) or (a war with mandatory David WBC) Benavidez. He has a mandatory IBF, I will be his WBO. He has many options himself.”
Smith still accommodates his dream of fighting in Anfield in his hometown of Liverpool.
“Time has a lot of connection with him,” he said. “I know that many have to be approximated for it to be able to happen.
“Surely there is a need for the right war, the right sub -month, everything has to fit in to be able to work.
“This is the ultimate goal and not just for myself, maybe every Liverpool fighter.”
Another British, Anthony Yarde may also be a potential opponent for Smith.
“If it’s a war for the world title, then it makes sense,” Smith said. “I believe I am one of the best lightweight weights in the world and of course the best lightweight in Britain. Buatsi’s beating proved this and if I have to beat Yarde to try it again, then I would surely do it.”
The battle with Buatsi will surely be a fugitive contender for one of the best fighting of 2025.
“It was a fast -paced war, and we both set up a lot in the sixth round, so, from the second half of the war, I was running in gravel and determination,” reflected Smith. “The next day I felt like I was going to run. My muscles and body were hurt. My eye was hurt.
“But it’s a little easier when you won and you feel that way.”
He added: “I think a match would probably be a similar fight.
“I’m sure fans would probably want to see her again. I, I’m not in a hurry to do it again, I don’t think he would be either!”
