Carlo Ancelotti admits that his future in Real Madrid is in doubt, claiming that his time may be early “tomorrow”, but will always be grateful for the club.
Madrid crashed from the Champions League 5-1 quarterfinal in total from Arsenal as they seemed a shade of the team that won the competition in two of the last three seasons.
Ancelotti’s team is also four points behind Barcelona in Laliga with seven games left.
Ancelotti’s contract at Bernabeu goes by 2026.
When asked about his long -term future as Real Madrid chief, Ancelotti said: “It may be this year, next year when my contract is over … There is no problem with it. But when I am here, I will be grateful for this club. It may be tomorrow, in a year, or in 10 years, but I will be grateful for this club.
“We have done very well in recent seasons, but this year we have had to suffer. Things have not gone as expected, but in sports because there are no invincible teams.
“Arsenal was better than us. We tried to do my best. Perhaps the inverted sentence was a turning point. That could have changed it.
“But Arsenal defended very well. We found it difficult to find spaces. We were better than normal at our intensity level, but it wasn’t enough.”
Brazil ‘hopeful’ of Ancelotti’s appointment
Brazil is understood to remain hope to name Ancelotti as their new coach.
A source has said Sky Sports News That Diego Fernandes, a prominent Brazilian businessman, is trying to mediate a possible deal.
It is understood that Fernandes is related to the Ancelotti team and the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF).
Although not officially related to CBF, Fernandes is said to be in close contact with the 65-year-old and his involvement is being described by the source as “very strategic” as part of CBF’s efforts to bring Italian to Brazil.
However, it is understood that there is a growing concern within the Brazil camp that time is running out to make the appointment and the national team cannot allow to be left without a main coach until August, with two World Cup qualifiers next month.
Their next games come in June against Paraguay and Ecuador at the 2026 World Cup qualification and Brazil have been without manager since dismissed Dorival Junior after a 4-1 defeat to Argentina in March.
Ancelotti’s current contract in Real Madrid ends in June 2026 and Real are linked to Bayer Leverkusen’s manager and former real Liker Xabi Alonso.
Ancelotti has been widely reported that it is the target of Brazil’s national team since last year’s Copa America. They are also reported to be interested in Jorge Jesus, Al -Hilal’s current manager in the Saudi Pros League.
CBF have been contacted by Sky Sports news.
