New Zealand defeated Bangladesh with five wickets in Rawalpindi to knock both of them and Pakistan from the ICC Champions trophy.
Following 237, Rachin Ravindra struck a wonderful 112, winner of the 105th Shipment in his return to Caps Black after losing their opening victory over Pakistan with a head injury.
The victory confirmed the early exits for Bangladesh and the hosts of Pakistan, just five days in the tournament, as the other New Zealand fought it with India – also fresh from two wins to two – for first place in Group A, on Sunday, directly in Heavenly cricket From 8.30am (first ball, 9 morning).
New Zealand had watched a little trouble early in their pursuit, with Will Young – Centurion from victory over Pakistan – rejected for a duck in the first, and Kane Williamson went cheaper for five.
But from 15-2 to the fourth, Ravindra led the recovery of the black hats, first with Devon Conway (30) and then Tom Latham (55), who followed a hundred from the opening of the tour with half a century in one 129 -Run stand for the fourth victory.
The fourth tone of Ravindra’s ODI – all of them scored in ICC tours, after scoring three in the 2023 World Cup – came out of 95 balls, in the 35th.
And though he and Latham would leave quickly, Glenn Phillips (21No) and Michael Bracewell (11no) easily saw the side over the line with only four overs to save.
Previously, Bangladesh destroyed a good start with the stick to eventually post 236-9 after entering Toss by New Zealand.
Tigers captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (77) and opening partner Tanzid Hasan (24) hit 45 of the first eight supervisions, causing Bracewell’s early presentation in the Powerplay Opening attack.
Off-spinner would only hit with his second ball, continuing to end with great figures of 4-26 out of his 10 overs, while Pacer Will O’Rourke very impressed with 2-48.
Only Jaker Ali (45) gave any real support for the score for Shanto, as well as a late attack to see Bangladesh beyond 200, but would not prove to be enough.
Taskin Ahmed cherished Young’s sixth ball, while Nahid Rana found Williamson’s advantage at the goalkeeper to briefly have New Zealand in question before the stunning century Ravindra led them to victory.
