Chelsea increased their chances of qualifying in the Champions League next season, as they deserved won 3-1 against a very changed Liverpool team that still celebrated their Title Premier League title.
After the Reds were crowned the champions last weekend after their victory over Tottenham Hotspur – and therefore surrendered an honorary guard from the blues before starting – Arne Slot made six changes to his regular lineup and this showed.
Liverpool was out of the species, precisely from Get-Go while Chelsea scored from their first attack. Curtis Jones’ slide allowed the blues to be broken, with Pedro Net Crossing in Enzo Fernandez, who drew home to make it 20 goals for the season.
Chelsea could have increased their superiority half of the time, with Liverpool only having a targeted stroke at the opening period. The Moise Ciacedo cross inadvertently came out of the bar, while Noni Madueke saw a goal allowed for Nicolas Jackson’s offside.
The hosts continued their movement in the second period and eventually received their reward. Cole Palmer – Best player in the Park – went down to the right and passed to Madueke, who went down to the area. While Virgil Van Dijk tried to clean, he could only throw the ball into Jarell Quansah and in the net.
It may have been three for Chelsea after the excellent Palmer went to a Solo ran from the left and hit the inside of the post. This kept Liverpool in the competition – and Van Dijk’s head from a corner halved the deficit to bring nerves around Stamford Bridge.
Those nerves were relieved while the poor passage of Dominic Szoboszlai to Quansah without caiacedo nephew inside and he was overthrown by the defender of the Liverpool center. This allowed Palmer to grow and score from the penalty spot to end a 12 -game run without a goal.
Chelsea’s victory moves them to the 63 -point level with the fourth Newcastle set, which could only attract to Brighton earlier on Sunday Super – and Enzo Maresca’s team are three clear points from Nottingham Forest, who travel to Crystal Palace on Monday evening football.
As for Liverpool, the title procession – or the party as often seemed from the distant end to West of London – continues, with Reds waiting for second -placed Arsenal next Sunday, Live in Sky Sports.
