The second half strike to seduce the smoke was enough to give Swansea a 1-0 championship win over Bristol City in a full Anglo-Welsh blood battle in Ashton Gate.
The winner came after 55 minutes when Robins Max O’Leary goalkeeper dumped to save a blow to Goncalo Franco, but could only put the ball on the smoke road, which fired the return to an un controlled network.
The hosts were denied by two excellent first-half savings by Lawrence Vigouroux after their attempt to enter the Play-Off places was also broken by some poor and dedicated Swansea defenses.
With the suspension of Joe Williams and Ross McCrorry, Bristol City Liam Manning chief made three changes in the 1-1 draw in Oxford. In the Max Bird and Haydon Roberts came, as well as Anis Mehmeti for George Earthy.
Swansea gave a debut for Day Day by signing Lewis O’Brien in midfield as one of the four changes, which Kyle Naughton, Eom Ji-Sung and Zan Vipotnik also saw.
Bristol City had the best half first open, forcing two moments of greatness from Vigouroux. In eight minutes, the tall goalkeeper immersed in his right to shoot Jason Knight’s strong head from a corner of the birds.
The 22nd minute without Vigouroux to make an equally good stop, this time dipping to the left to his left at the finger of Luke Mcnally’s Dolley around a post.
Ten minutes later, Swansea created their first opening, but Ronald could only shine in O’Leary from Naughton’s forehead.
Rob Dickie enabled a head from a Knight cross while the hosts continued to threaten. But another accurate passage Naughton shortly before the break without Vipotnik misunderstands his attempt to remove the ball over O’Leary, making a poor effort directly on the goalkeeper’s arms.
Liam Cullen sent a free 20-borre over the grass while Swansea destroyed the last chance of an energetic 45 minutes in which both sides lacked a cutting skirt.
Smoke goal rewarded the best magic of Swansea’s game at the beginning of the second half. Manning responded by sending striker Sinclair Armstrong and land midfielder for Nahki Wells and Mehmeti.
Powerful Armstrong made an immediate influence and forced a corner from which Dickie led.
But Swansea should have gone two after 68 minutes when the impressive O’Brien fed an unmarked EOM inside the box and he fired at O’Leary from 12 yards.
Robins immediately turned to attack only for Armstrong to clean the bar. Then Manning’s decision to send an additional attacker almost paid with 14 minutes left when the Sam Bell Drive Drive returned from a post.
Swansea had to be protected for their lives in the closing stages, O’Brien by making a great block from the bird’s hit, while another bird effort was diverted for a corner as visitors kept out.
manager
Liam Manning of Bristol City:
“There were so many positive in the show. I am so frustrated that our supporters must be because everything was there except the result.
“Their goalkeeper has made two outstanding savings and we continued to ask Swansea’s right to the last whistle.
“After all we just miss the little composition and quality ahead of the goal. But the progress we made this season was again there to see everyone. will come.
“We have paid for a short period at the beginning of the second part when we were dipped in certain areas. But in addition I have no complaints about player efforts.
“There is a quick chance to dance back home in Stoke City on Wednesday and we have shown ourselves capable of overcoming obstacles this season.”
Luke Williams of Swansea:
“It was a difficult victory. We are in something of a transitional period now, learning to be associated without Matt Grimes, which was so important to us, and when this is the main thing is to play with total commitment.
“The players were strong and elastic enough to cope with a lot of pressure on a very good, but also brave enough to create some really good chances.
“I see Bristol City as genuine contenders for play-off. Liam Manning is a great coach and they have to support the long-term one. This may turn out to be a very important result for us.”
