Dillian Whyte has been forced to withdraw from his heavy weight collision with Joe Joyce.
Whyte vs Joyce was due to the title a show in Manchester on April 5, but Whyte suffered a severe injury to his finger in training and now will not be able to box on that date.
A replacement opponent for Joyce is now being sought for that competition.
Whyte last fought for the last time in December in Gibraltar when he crossed the Ebenezer Tetteh. This period with Joyce would have been his first in Britain since 2022 when he issued Jermaine Franklin by a majority decision.
Whyte had been to fight a match with Anthony Joshua in 2023, just to turn an unfavorable finding into a drug test that saw that canceled war.
Now whyte is cleaned on the box, but this barrier to damage will delay his return to high -level boxing.
Joyce himself had intended to have a tuned period, but in the end did not box last weekend as initially proposed. He will still be able to fight on April 5, while the Olympic Medalist of Silver seeks to return from a loss of decision against Derek Chisora last July.
Queensberry’s promotions, which phases the April 5 incident, said in a statement: “Due to a hand injury suffered during the training camp, Dillian Whyte will no longer be able to compete in his planned period on April 5 against Joyce in the Co-OP Live in Manchester.
“A replacement opponent is now ending for ‘Juggernaut’ and a notice about this will be done soon.”
