The controversial punishment of Ronan Hale’s detention time kept the hopes of Ross County alive to avoid removal play-off while they withdrew 1-1 to other Dundee fighters.
Blues Dark took the lead in the second half through Scott Tiffoney and looked on the course to ensure their status of Prime Minister William Hill.
But deep in the added time Hale saved a point for Staggies from the country after Ryan Astley directed the ball on the side of Antonio Portales.
With only two points that divides the parties, it will go straight to the wire this Sunday to determine who will be in the removal play-off.
The hosts made two changes to the team that lost in Kilmarnock at the weekend with Oluwaseun Adewumi entering Scott Tiffoney while Clark Robertson replaced Aaron Donnelly in defense.
Visitors made three changes to the side that was beaten by St Johnstone on Saturday with Eli Campbell, Michee Efete and Noah Kenneth being designed for Kieran Philips, George Harmon and Zac Ashworth, who was suspended after his red card in the game of saints.
Dundee had a great chance in the 22nd minute when Simon Murray was locked in a clumsy backpass by Akil Wright and tried a strong kick from a narrow corner that was cleaned from his line by Kacper shovel.
Staggies produced an immediate response and approached to take the lead when Hale departed in a great run before hitting a blow from the edge of the Dundee box that was deviated into the junction bar and above.
The Highland squad were up and they had two other chances of fire with Wright to send a free head before Alex Samuel’s low hit was easily gathered from the Karson House goalkeeper.
Adewumi then found Seb Palmer-Houlden with an excellent crossing of the intersection and the attacker hit a 22-jar kick that goalkeeper Jordan Amissah acrobatically left for a corner.
The tension continued to be mounted at the beginning of the second half, but the blockage was finally broken in the 55th minute. Cameron played a great pass on the foot of Tiffoney below the left and he entered the circuit box and kept his calm to shoot calmly beyond Amissah.
The holder then came to rescue his team, making two stunning stops in a quick success from a palm-houlden blow and a head shagghnessy.
Staggies then destroyed a big chance to equalize when Samuel tried the dance but with the goal at his mercy, he exploded well.
However, the striker made changes in the sixth minute of the detention time.
Arbitrator Nick Walsh gave a controversial circuit to a penalty when Astley headed to the portal side, with the decision stamped by VAR.
Hale got up to take the blow in place and he made no mistake, sending Carson the wrong way to end any fears of automatic removal and strengthen his side’s hopes to avoid play-off.
