Emma Raducanu looked impressive in every department while dismantling a McCartney Kessler with The American calling him to rest in the middle of the second way in the second set in Miami Open on Sunday.
Raducanu was leading 6-1 3-0 when Kessler called for physio and then decided to retire citing a back injury.
The British No. 2 recovered from the removal of her opening service game to win the next eight games before Kessler packs her bags.
Raducanu supported her stunning victory over Emma Navarro – her first against a Top -10 player in her career – to set a 16th meeting with each Mirria Andva OR Amanda Animova on Monday. It is scheduled to play third in Butch Buchholz from around 7pm – Live in Tenis Sky Sports.
“I think it’s another approach this week,” she said in her interview in court. “I think five minutes before the match I was playing the ball with the team. It helps me rest.
“When I am playing my best tennis, I am really expressing my personality. I would say I am a free spirit, so I don’t need restrictions or saying what to do.
“I think when I’m really authentic, that’s when I’m playing my best.”
She added: “My movement is very good now. I think I’m protecting better and turning really well. I’m very happy with most of my playing areas. Just just something I’m looking to try and continue to improve, which will create a stability.”
Speaking about Salmon Gigi, Raducanu said: “I was happier with my focus. This is such a large part of tennis and especially in a match like this.
“I’m in the third round and haven’t been to this phase of a tour at a time, so I’m very happy with that. I came back really well, so from the first point in the match I was pressuring her service and I was imposing myself and my game from the first ball and trying to get used to the match terms.
“I am really proud of myself, my team, the work we have introduced and the type of environment we have built.”
Raducanu feels the difficult word she has introduced with the world -renowned world fitness coach Yutaka Nakamura has begun to be repaid.
“I have not had any great damage that is the biggest war I have had in previous years and the touch of wood, my body is okay now,” she said. “Also, moving to the corners, I am reaching a lot more balls and simply practicing it and challenging myself to reach every ball, I think I develop the confidence and hand skills to do something with it while I am there too.”

“It was absolutely breathing from the word go, just turning on the ball, just a beautiful ball stroke. Not only began for service games, but those service returns went into its opponent’s head. She just began to exceed it after a long exchange early.
“You can simply see the evaporation of trust at the next end. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it play as well as it did for those nine games.”

Does Djokovic have to get it in the Grand Slam finishing line?
Said Jamie Delgado, Grigor Dimitrov’s coach Tennis: “In Australia, I thought he had a great chance to win. He was obviously injured, but he still beat (Carlos) Alcaraz in a quarter -final match. I think he would have been in the final if he was not injured and in a one -end he would have to play (Jannik) in a hardcont – but
“I think Wimbledon for him would be his greatest chance.”
Is the continuation of the Murray-Djokovic partnership a good thing?
Delgado, who also trained Andy Murray from 2016-21, also talked about the player-trainer partnership who has decided to continue to Wimbledon and potentially further.
He said: “Andy has an amazing tennis brain and he has played Novak. He knows what it is like to play against other opponents and he has also played against all young people, Alcaraz and sinful. I think from a tactical point of view I think he can be very, very useful for Novak.”
Colin Fleming on Commentary said: “I have to believe that there is an element of Murray who wants to attract the curtain and see how Djokovic does. There must be an intrigue element there, I think Andy is attracting for someone in his age in a way. It is an intriguing training challenge for him.
“There is potential for Djokovic Come Roland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open this year. He is in the mix.”
