Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from Great Britain’s representation in Billie Cup qualifiers Jean King next week after her impressive run in Miami Open’s quarterfinals.
Raducanu was due to the Netherlands leadership with planned links against the Dutch and Germany from April 10-12, but the world No. 48 has chosen to undertake a training block.
She united her best race since she won the US Open in 2021, reaching the last eight in Miami before she was lost in the eventual Jessica Pegula race.
The British No. 2 were also to join Elina Svitolina’s likes and Sofia Kenin for Clay-Croati WTA 250 in Rouen on April 14, but after a taxation several months with just a week away from tournaments, she will take the opportunity to train with an unconfirmed return date.
Raducanu was named in the five -player squad from team captain Anne Keothavong along with Katie Boulter, Sonay Cartal, Harriet Dart and Olivia Nicholls for Billie Jean King Cup. However, it has been discovered that it will not ultimately participate.
“I admit that this has been a difficult decision for Emma. Of course you are always missing a player of its quality team, we have seen what it can do in the past representing its country, but I have the maximum confidence in players traveling next week and will confirm a fifth player at the right time,” said Skipper Keothavong.
Britain will compete in a new round qualifying format, with high places going to the final later this year.
The remaining two teams will have to compete in Play-off for the possibility of returning to the qualifier in 2026.
Raducanu had been due to his head in Spain for the Big 1000 Madrid Open in La Caja Magica from April 22 to May 4, but it is unclear whether she would participate in the tournament ahead of French Open which begins on Sunday, May 25.
