Gary Neville says Manchester United need five new signatures to suit the Ruben Amorim system.
United are 13th in the Premier League after drawing 0-0 at home in Manchester City on Sunday after winning only two of their last eight matches in the League.
Amorim has stalled with its favored 3-4-3 formation with different success after signing the left wing Patrick Dorgu in a £ 30m agreement from Lecce during the winter-to-but transfer window Sports Sky ‘ Neville believes they need much more additions.
“From a united perspective, I understand why he is back in a low block,” Neville said. “But this is what we have seen from Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik Ten Hag.
“All of them have entered with the intention of playing high -energy, high -energy football, but everyone ends up turning into a low block in big games.
“I understand why Ruben Amorim did it today, with the players he has because he didn’t get the players to fit.
“They need five new players immediately before you think about the rest of it.
“The three ahead are not good enough and the two wings of the wings, they are not good enough. They need five players. They have to serve him with five players who are good enough in this system to be able to play his system the way he wants.”
Neville was disappointed by the “love” among the full-time players of Manchester Derby who “tells you that both teams are happy with a 0-0”.
At his post -match press conference, Amorim replied: “I understand that Gary Neville is essential to everything. I understand that we are spending the worst season in history. Manchester City won everything in the past, but this season they are fighting. So we are not in the best times to give the best spectacle for fans.
“I understand the critical aspect of players playing in this game in another way because they were fighting for the titles every time. It’s another context.”
‘Elanga, Rashford, Welbeck are better than forward forward’
Speaking before the 0-0 draw with Man City, Neville compared United ahead with those who left.
“No Manchester United manager after Sir Alex Ferguson, except Louis Van Gaal, has been able to prevail games with possession. This is a real problem.
“Players ahead are not just the quality required in the club. It sounds really tough but it’s the truth.
“There will be a need for smart recruitment, it means bringing players for good prices and getting players in which they are underestimated – that is what all teams are trying to do in the league!
“You can camp four players that are no longer in Manchester United – Anthony Elanga, Marcus Rashford, Danny Welbeck and Scott Mctominay after them – they would do much better than current players like a four forward.
“United have let the players go – and I’m not saying they are the solution now. But they have replaced the players who were not in the standard, with players who are not at that level.”
