Gordon Elliott won the Turners Mersey Mersy’s obstacle for the fourth year right, as honesty policy flew at home late to break the heart of the regent walk in the Aintree.
It seemed like it was another front master class by Harry Cobden, who had made with success similar on the Caldwell Potter Board of Paul Nicholls in the famous silk of the late John Hales on Friday.
The highly praised six -year -old had boldly beat the challenge of Koktail Divin by Henry de Bromhead and Willie Mullis’ Funiculi Funicula to the Aintree long house, but he had no response to the late push of honesty politics, as he was surrendered to the winner of the golden cup Mark Walsh.
Chance 5/1 ended up running to hit half a length, with the regent walk holding Funiculi Funicula for the second.
Elliott – who struck 12 months ago with BrightdaysaAad – said: “He is well named, he is a harsh horse with a very good attitude.
“I would say that he was probably going as fast as he could all the way, so we are absolutely satisfied with him.
“He will definitely go further next year, attitude is his game, as you can see.
“I don’t know if he will pass fences or stay obstructed, we will enjoy today first.”
Elliott was formerly Caldwell Potter’s coach before being sold in his new connections, which include Sir Alex Ferguson.
On this occasion, the partially Ferguson walk in regent was beaten in second place and both shared a hug in Paddock.
“Sir Alex loves the game and he came to say well and I told him well done yesterday. We wanted to keep Caldwell Potter, but this is the game we are in,” Elliott said.
“This has been a lucky race for me. That’s four wins in a row.”
For the race, Nicholls said: “He ran a race, right? I’m excited with him.
“It has not been easy with it throughout the season, but he mentally started to get there and it was far away and away from his best run. Running at Wincanton another day made him good and he started to calm down – today, given the case, it is probably as well as he was.
“He settled and jumped absolutely excellent and while Harry said he was accelerated from the last to the line.
“After all, his future has finished fences, I have always said that, and everything he gained on obstacles would be a bonus. He is an exciting horse for the future, we will remove it now and go by following novice in the fall.”
