Moeen Ali says the potential suspension of former England teammate Harry Brook from IPL is “not tough”.
Brook has withdrawn from a deal with Delhi Capitals’ exclusivity for the second year that takes precedence to his international commitments ahead of this summer’s series this summer at home in India and then ASHES in Australia from November.
The new IPL rules stipulate that any player withdrawal after the auction faces a two -season prohibition, with exceptions made only for injuries or medical reasons.
Former all-round Moeen Ali, who was signed defending IPL Kolkata Knight Riders’ champions before the 2025 season starting this weekend, said The Beard in front of the cricket Podcast: “There is (tough), I agree with (IPL prohibitions).
“Many people (withdraw). People have made it in the past and then return inside and ended up getting a better financial package or whatever it may be. It digs many things.
“It is up to his team (Delhi Capitals) up, (Brook) pulling. Anydo losing Harry Brook is a little confused, and they have now taken to recover everything.
“Forget it for a second, if you withdraw, the rule is to get a stop, unless it is a family reason or injury. If it is injury, it is different. But I think if you just withdraw … I agree with (the rules).”

Brook is one of the first leaders to take over as a white ball captain in England with Jos Buttler, resigning from the group stage in the Champions trophy.

Moeen thinks Brook is a player of all forms and potentially ready to take a leading position are reasons for his IPL attraction.
He added: “With Brook, he has played a lot of crickets. He is probably thinking only a little of a break (how) has a big summer coming, coming 12 months old.
“England plays a lot and Brook plays all forms and he will surely be the captain of the white ball, so he is probably just giving himself a little rest.
“It’s been a harsh winter, so he’ll probably get his game so a little more. That’s everything.”

Angle Roller Adil Rashid added the potential stop of IPL of Brook: “You know to go to this rule. You know the consequences (of attraction), so I don’t think it’s harsh.
“This has been going on for a while. For five, 10 years many people who have been selected are generally withdrawn. That’s what they are trying to stop.
“Many people who make the team withdraw the last minute and who confuse things in terms of team dynamics.”
