John Higgins defeated Mark Selby in the Tour Championship final
John Higgins won five frames in a row to defeat Mark Selby 10-8 in the Tour Championship final for what he described as the best victory of his long career.
Selby had previously won seven consecutive frames to move within two wins, but Higgins jumped inside and limited his opponent to just 18 points in the last five frames.
“Is my best victory ever,” said Higgins, who ended a four -year reception for a ranking title in last month’s World Open.

“I was playing an incredible champion and he was looking like he would not lose, he was tied to me in the knots. To do it against Mark gives me tremendous confidence that I can still mix it with the best players.”
The battle between a pair of four -time world champions had seen them share the two opening frames – Selby making a 135 break in the second.
Higgins struck two holidays of 102 and another out of 94 while seizing control at the afternoon session, leading 5-1 before Selby hit 112 and 136 vacation to complete the session.
He continued in the evening, a break of 119 in the 13th frame, taking it 8-5 forward.
But Higgins responded with a break 110 to another and fought his path to equality before clinking the 84th and 132 holiday victory.
The eighth and last century of the match equalized the record for a better 19th final.
