The upcoming Genesis Invitational has been moved from Riviera Country Club due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, the PGA Tour confirmed Thursday.
Tiger Woods was set to host the tournament, scheduled for February 13-16, at the fire-ravaged Pacific Palisades course.
Details of a new venue and arrangements for the PGA Tour’s signature event – featuring a star-studded field – are set to follow.
“The PGA Tour’s focus continues to be on the safety and well-being of those affected by the unprecedented natural disaster in Greater Los Angeles,” the PGA Tour said in a statement.
“We are grateful for the life-saving efforts of first responders and the tireless work being done to put an end to these tragic fires.
“We have decided that The Genesis Invitational 2025 will be played at an alternate location the week of February 10-16.
“An update of the venue and additional information about the tournament will be provided in the coming days.”
Woods focuses on helping ‘everyone who struggles’
Speaking earlier in the week, Woods insisted his focus was on supporting those affected by the bushfires, rather than what would happen to the tour.
“We’re trying to figure everything out and make sure everyone is safe and have meetings scheduled going forward,” Woods said Tuesday.
“Right now, we’re not really focused on the tour. It’s more about what we can do to help all those who are struggling, who’ve lost their homes and whose lives have been changed. There’s a lot of other things which are greater than this (tournament)”
Woods had previously posted on X: “The ongoing devastation with the LA fires is such a tragedy and being from California, it hits home. My heart goes out to those who have suffered unimaginable loss.
“Thank you to the incredible heroes who are the first responders helping to control and save the Los Angeles community. We plan to provide an update on our charitable efforts to help those communities in the coming weeks. Stay strong LA!”
