Liam Smith wants a blow in retaliation against Chris Eubank JR and is watching a trilogy war between the party has to plan Saturday night.
Smith suffered a loss of the 10th round ban against an Eubank JR greatly improved in their September 2023 match after overthrowing his British rival in high fashion eight months ago.
The 36-year-old had been to return to the ring against Josh Kelly last September before he was withdrawn from the war due to the illness.
Now he is scheduled to face Aaron McKenna in the Eubank JR confrontation under the conjunction against Conor Benn in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend.
“I think there is probably a number of reasons I am on this card,” Smith said Heavenly sports.
“I don’t think Chris loved me on this card, but I am in it, maybe if one of the fighters with the main event was injured, I was probably the best name to raise and get inside.
“We know with Riyadh season, she just wants really good fights and dance partners. If I win and the main event is a little one -sided and there is no match, then I’m an option for the winner.
“I think there are some reasons I’m on the card.”
Smith was significantly far from his best during his second meeting with Eubank JR, but would later make no excuses for his night performance or preparations that had been damaged by an injury obstacle.
He remains driven by loss and is seeking the opportunity to set things as he continues to minimize the questions he has left in the final years of his career.
“If I wasn’t motivated, I wouldn’t be here, I wouldn’t be in the form I entered, especially after a terrible injury I had,” Smith added.
“The same question is being asked for callum (brother callum smith) for desire. It is’
“Going back to losing to Chris is all the motivation I really need. The last time I was in a ring in a competitive war I was terrible.
“This loss eats me every night because I didn’t have the opportunity to do it again. For some reason it stopped at 1-1, Lyndon Arthur and Anthony Yarde get their trilogy, I don’t understand why I didn’t.
“It is for me to prove that I am back. There have been reason after that performance.”
Smith’s opponent, McKenna reaches a 19-0 perfect as a professional and the young man at the age of 25, while fighting for the first time since a 10th round ban on Jeovanny Estela last July.
For all McKenna’s potential, Smith plans to calculate his ring experience.
“I look at it. I’ve had some of these over the years,” Smith said. “Returning to the Anthony Fowler War (in October 2021). I asked the same question” you were at the top, what did you still get? . ”
“I remember in that card that were six 154 on that card. I said you can match me any of them, it’s a competitive fight for four, five rounds and then cutting, ability, experience enters it.
“This will not be different. He will start very soon, he will be a game, competitive, but when the war is resolved and the ability and experience indicates that I will be very good for Aaron.”
