Liverpool is six points away from the signature of a 20th Premier League title after Virgil Van Dijk went from zero with a late head to seal a 2-1 win over West Ham.
With Liverpool’s 1-0 victory thanks to the first opening of Luis Diaz from a stunning help of Mohamed Salah, Van Dijk was involved in a terrible mix with Andy Robertson for the latter to score a goal in the 86th minute.
But moments later Captain Van Dijk rose up to the West Ham Niclas Fullkrug substitute from a Kopo to place Liverpool a 13 -point lead at the top of the Premier League.
Although there may have been a push from Van Dijk in the hammers forward, which Var did not punish. “Beautiful little painted isn’t there?” said Roy Keane. “I thought VAR would see it, but obviously no!”
If Arsenal is to be lost in Ipswich next weekend in super Sunday, Liverpool will know the victory over Leicester, also live in Heavenlywill mathematically secure the title of five games to save.
Asked if Liverpool can now “touch the title”, Mohamed Salah said: “We can say that now. We owe it to fans one, especially when we won it, we won it in blocking. So let’s go for it and win it!”
Liverpool was finally lucky to leave the victory, with Jamie Carragher calling the Reds “lethargic” and “in particular average” after their opening.
Anfield was originally a noise noise after a good week for the club. Two days after his new Liverpool contract was confirmed, Salah entered the record books in setting the Diaz space.
Salah broke the record for most goals involvement in a season with 38 Premier League games – and he made it in a style. An external glorious external passage unlocked the West Ham defense and allowed the diaz to be put into an empty mesh.
But West Ham grew up in the game almost immediately. Mohamed Kudus saw his attempt to the grass by Alisson almost immediately after the opening of Diaz. Konstantinos Mavropanos lost a site from a corner immediately before half the time and West Ham pressure continued after the break, despite Alexis Allister hit the bar Hammers from a free kick.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, again in the squad after the shock, stayed long to deny Jarrod Bowen in one-in-one as he also scored a low Kudus car. Carlos Soler also lost a good chance from the Bowen cross.
Finally, the pressure shown as the Aaron Wan -Bissaka cross should have been cleaned by Van Dijk and Robertson – but the pair collided as the ball entered the end of Scotland.
With Liverpool determined to fall more points, UP increased their captain as his head sent to Anfield Wild. Among the celebrations, Robertson gave Van Dijk a kiss – a gratitude and relief – on the forefront.
West Ham, who saw Fulkrug hit the ribbon at the time of the detention, will feel many of those who fall to 17, but when it comes to the top of the table and the title, Liverpool is ready there.
Zero to the hero! Van Dijk’s abductor with Robertson – then gets the winner!
