Pep Guardiola said Manchester City expects to learn the outcome of the hearing on their 115 allegations of alleged violations of the Premier League financial rules “in one month”.
According to the Premier League rules, any sentence can be a discount of points or even the threat of deportation from the division.
Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Guardiola dismissed suggestions for revealing January of the club was a prejudiced strike against a possible embargo of future transfer.
City made their first serious movements in a winter transfer window since the signature of Aymeric Laporte in 2018 while they sprayed 170 million on Omar Marmosh, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez before Monday.
Guardiola thinks that city’s actions are mistakenly judged because of their owners’ property and their expenses still do not match that of others.
He said: “I disagree, but my words will not convince people that our attributes are (not) simply being in a rich position.
“In the last five years, we are the last team in the first six for net expenses. Even after what we have passed in this transfer window, we are far from Chelsea, (Manchester) United, Arsenal, Tottenham, even from Liverpool .
“The reason why it has been sold a lot in the last seasons, but, even with that, I know (what people say) this club is always ‘just for money’.
“Respect others, but in a month I think there will be a judgment and a sentence and after seeing my opinion on what happened so far. Still, in the end, any club can do everything they want.”
In February 2023, the Premier League accused City of breaking more than 100 financial rules with the alleged violations covering the period between 2009 and 2018. Manchester City denied all charges.
The hearing took place in front of an independent commission over 12 weeks between September and December.
A decision is expected in the spring, most likely around Mars and both sides have the right to appeal, which will last several months.
