Bryson Dechambeau insists his reduced Liv Golf League schedule does not prevent his hopes of challenging the victory in the masters.

Dechambeau is one of the 12 players from the Liv Golf League county that appears in Augusta National, directly on April 10-13 in HeavenlyWith the big twice champion seeking to build last year’s dramatic success in Pinehurst.

Dozens all show up at the Liv Golf League in Miami this week, only their fifth tour of the season, with Dechambeau just competed in a 72 -holes tour – a competitor in the International Series event – since losing cutting in open July.

“I think everyone has their own preparation work,” Dechambeau said. “For me personally, I like to have a time of rest, prepare for these events, focus on them and get my game in a good place, create a strategy and play plan.

“If anything, I think it has been a tremendous help to me personally, giving myself a little more time to prepare for these events, and sincerely it has been a blessing to me.

“My preparation begins the first tour of the year, whatever it may be.

World No 19 is joined by seven former masters’ champions from Liv Golf – Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Jon Rahm, Patrick Reed, Charl Schwartzel and Bubba Watson – while Tyrrell Hatton, Brooks Koepka, Joaquin Niemann and Cameron Smith are also determined.

Dechambeau held part of the half -road lead before it faded at a sixth conclusion last season, with the American seeking to build that performance and challenge for a big second in so many years.

“I was very grateful that I was there and had fun and competed and I was in charge of that leader,” Dechambeau explained. “You will always feel nerves, no matter what tournament you are and especially in diplomas.

“So, yes, was I feeling pressure? Yes. Did I do it for all Liv? Of course, you could say that. For me, I’m just there trying to win a golf tour, and if it does very well for Liv, then that’s great.

“But for me, you are still there alone trying to win a golf tour, and all that comes from it is great.”

Dechambeau was criticized in 2020 after referring to Augusta National – for him – as a Par –67 course because of his ability to reach all Par -fives in two shots, something he called a “mistake” during last year’s competition.

The 31-year-old posted a Top-21 conclusion as an amateur during Danny Willett’s victory in 2016, but failed to improve that result in his next six visits, with his first sixth end last year after the previous two years lost.

“I think every year you go to Augusta and masters, you are learning more and more, and that place is a special place that requires a lot of patience,” Dechambeau added.

Dechambeau pulls the big toe of the post

Bryson Dechambeau shocked fans and commentators at Augusta National during last year’s tour when he fired a mark from the ground in the 13th hole

“You will not take it all the time for the first time around, the second, the third, the fourth. It takes time to understand the shades of this country. It is a very complicated, complex place, and that is why I think is just a accumulation of many factors coming into play.

“I have a driver who has worked very well now and I have used it for a while. This has been a tremendous asset. I think over time will be just one of those teaching games of small parts here and there to get to small places just a little better every time.”
