Jose Luis Ballester has sparked controversy in his masters debut after agreeing to urinate at Creek RAE during his opening round at Augusta National.
American amateur champion withdrew along with Scottie Scheffler defense champion and former bunch of No. 1 Justin Thomas for his big debut, where he fought in a four-sided 76th.
Ballester withdrew from two Bogeys in his first three holes and a trio-Bogey in the fifth-four-four-sixth bird, then canceled a Bogey in the 11th hole making other birds.
The Spaniard found himself caught a little in the other five-five, known as Azalea, with Ballester choosing to use Rae’s Creek as an alternative toilet place before finishing the hole in Par.
“I completely forgot that we had those baths to the left of the Tee box,” Ballester admitted to journalists after his round. “Then I’m like, ‘I really need to peel.’
“I didn’t really know where to go, and since JT (Thomas) had a matter in green, I’m like,” I would simply steal here in the river and surely people would not see me so much. “
“Then they got caught for me! Maybe one of the shakes I became loudly, so it was a funny kind. It was not at all shameful to me. If I had to do it again, I would do it again.”
Scheffler, aiming to become the first winner of the masters since Tiger Woods and the first to win the green jacket three times in four years since Jack Nicklaus, scored four birds in a four -year -old.
Each of the last six top men’s champions was in the first four after the opening round, while 18 of the past 20 masters were within 10 best after the opening day, though Scheffler played the importance of a good start.
“I really don’t think much about those things,” Scheffler said. “I really don’t care what happened in the last shifts.
“I think at any time you approach you, it will be easier for you to win the golf tournament. This is a simple fact of the matter. You get down to a good start, statistically you will have a better chance to win the tournament.
“I think about the main championship courses is funny because this is a golf course where there are many options. There are many opportunities over the weekend. There are many opportunities on Sunday with where they put the pins.
Scheffler rose down by slightly green to take advantage of the seconds before draining a gorgeous 60-foot bird in the fourth, with world No. 1, then slamming pars over each of the next three holes to continue its start without Bogey.
A brilliant pitch in the eight-eight raised a 12-legged bird that moved Scheffler to three under and saw the turn to 33, the same total as the day of opening its title in 2023, with Scheffler ending a pars with another long bird in the 16th.
Former World No. 1 Justin Rose-a twice racing of masters accused in the lead with a seven under 65, with the English who now has more first round directions in Augusta National than any player in history.
