Mohamed Salah has completed speculation about his future by signing a new deal with Liverpool.
The 32-year-old has now placed pen on paper for a new deal which Sky Sports News Understands that he will keep it in Anfield by 2027.
It is a great incentive for Liverpool with a scintillating salad this season, helping in the club’s power on the eve of their 20th title of the League.
Egypt’s international has helped Liverpool Fire at the top of the Premier League with 27 goals and 17 assists.
Salah has won a Premier League, a Champions League, a FA Cup and two league cups in addition to a super UEFA Cup, a FIFA World Club Cup in Liverpool.
“Of course I’m very excited,” Salah said on the official channels of the Liverpool club. “We have a great team now. Before we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
“Gray is great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, I hope it will be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.
“I would like to say (fans), I’m very, very happy to be here. I was signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together.
“Keep supporting us and we will give the best, and hopefully in the future we will win more trophies.”
Liverpool coach Arne Slot said at his press conference: “Happy naturally. He has been shown at this club for so many years now how much he has for the team and the club.
“As all his team fans and friends are, we are very happy that he has been lasting for two years. Hopefully he can show Sunday (against West Ham), how important he has been for us all the season.
“For fans, it’s a relief. I don’t think it’s a surprise for you that I knew a little better how his contract situation went throughout the season. I knew for a while that things were going in the right direction.
“Also also a great compliment to Richard Hughes to extend Mo Salah, who is such a great player and as a free agent can probably go to any club in the world, wherever he wants, but he stayed in our club. This is also a compliment to Richard Hughes.
“I was part of this process, but I don’t think I deserve compliments. First of all, it is the choice of MO and the choice of his agent for what he wants. Then the club, FSG, Richard Hughes and Michael Edvard, they made a lot of effort to extend. Effort mostly means money!
“What can tell you is not just a good season this season, we want to have a good season next season. I think MO is convinced that there is a fair chance we are able to do so. Again, this is positive for us.”
What is the last with Van Dijk and Trent?
News of Salah’s contract is expected to increase from a new Liverpool deal on captain Virgil van dijk. Sky Sports News Discovered last week there were steps in discussions on a new agreement on the Dutch defender.
“You know the answer. The boring answer,” Slot said of the future of Van Dijk. “We talk about contracts if they are signed. In the MO situation, we’re talking about it.
“I can tell you that I am very happy with Virgil, he has been extraordinary for us. Even the last matches where there were moments he could do better, but if you look at the other 89 minutes he is such an important player.
“Let’s hope he can do the same as Mo, be our leader again. Being our leader against West Ham on Sunday.”
As with Salah, Liverpool has always been sure that Van Dijk would engage in the club and there is optimism he will remain beyond the summer.
“There is progress,” Van Dijk said when asked about the situation of his contract on Sunday. “These are internal discussions and we’ll see them. I love the club.”
Van Dijk is 33, but has played every minute of every Premier League match for Liverpool this season.
However, Real Madrid is sure to conclude a deal to Trent Alexander-Arnoldwho was Liverpool’s third player outside the contract this summer.
Real is believed to be advancing in talks and Alexander-Arnold’s preference is to join the Laliga club.
How far can Salah go to Liverpool?
Liverpool coach Arne Slot at his press conference:
“Salah is always judged as a player. But I also see him as a human being, always wants to work hard and always makes a lot of effort to become the player he has made. He wants to stay at that level and wants to bring that effort every day.
“What makes him special on the field is that he can score goals, he can do it when he is not in the best half or 15 minutes. That is why he is mentally so strong.
“You have to be that if you want to play for seven or eight years at the highest level, playing every three or four days. In addition to the quality of physics, you must be mentally strong. How strong mentally it is, this is what stands for me.
“We’re always trying to achieve a little more as a team. But if you are playing in Liverpool, you are probably coming to the maximum level of your ability. So there is not much room for improvement for MO, or other players more. So you are trying to reach excellence.
“We are trying to bring the best and maximum of the players to find out that one or two percent extra. But it is clear that MO is approaching to the end. Not by the end of his career, but the end of his ability.
“We have almost brought the maximum of his qualities this season. And then it is about consistency, which is one of the most difficult things in football. That is why he is seen as such a star player.”
Analysis: This shows the ambition of Salah and Liverpool
Sky Sports News’ Vinny O’Connor on Liverpool training land:
“It will be a relief in some parts. It has come in a favorable moment in the season where Liverpool has lost three of their last four matches. So this is a bit of an incentive and good news.
“It’s a relief for fans, a relief for everyone here and Arne Slot – the fact that Liverpool should not go in search of a replacement immediately and they can move forward with Salah on their team for the next two years at least.
“These have been negotiations that have continued for several months led by sports director Richard Hughes. There seems to be a will on both sides – the football club and Mo Salah to make this agreement.
“Liverpool say their ambition is to recruit the best talent and should go to hand with the sports and financial and general interests of the football club – that is why this agreement has taken some time to realize because Salah itself is looking for the best possible deal.
“When you look at Salah’s record since membership in Liverpool in 2017, there is no doubt that it belongs to the highest ecolons in world football and among the most prominent footballers in the world.
“This new deal is showing the ambition of Liverpool and Salah over the next two years. This shows their ambition to continue to grow under Slot Arne, as well as keep the best talent in the football club.
