Natasha Jonas and her coach Joe Gallagher are facing challenges in the ring and beyond ropes.
Gallagher is training Jonas for joining her world title with Lauren Price, this Friday at Royal Albert Hall.
In the construction of the March 7 championship war, Gallagher revealed that he has also been fighting with the fourth phase of the intestines and liver cancer.
“I made a statement because I just wanted people to be aware,” Gallagher told Heavenly. “I just want everyone to go and control and not wait too late.
“All last year they thought I was living my best life, they have seen me out (in Riyadh) at dinners with Eminem and Ronaldo, and part of the Mike Tyson gym and setting this and Lawrence (Okolie) winning world titles and Tasha winning world titles, and everyone thinking that I have been forced to come together.”
He added: “I have put it there just to let them know everyone. If I am Joe Gallagher that everyone has experienced in the past sometimes this time may not be me, it may be the mood of Kimo and that. But the business is just as normal.”
Gallagher is keeping everything in the gym focused on the boxing and success of his athletes.
“Judah is just like business as always. Nothing has changed,” he said. “I have told the fighters that you just have to focus. We have fought to win both inside and outside the ring this year and that is what we aim to do.”
He has arranged his chemotherapy treatments around the future periods of his fighters.
“Boxing is his distraction and keeps him mentally in the game and ready,” Jonas said Heavenly. “If you were in the gym, you wouldn’t think anything was different. He is still screaming to me, I’m still saying left, right and center. I’m still praising when I did good things.
“Joe Joe. He will always be Joe. He thinks of his last himself and he wants it almost as much as you.
“There are additional incentives,” she added, “I don’t need to explain it. But there are additional incentives for me to do well and do myself and my camp justice and my coach.”
