Natasha Jonas is determined to defeat Lauren Price and then fight for an indisputable world champion.
But Jonas would get that unquestionable war on Welter or super lightweight, and could have a rival set in both weights.
Jonas of Liverpool, WBC and IBF Welterweight’s unified champion, fights Titlist World World PriceMimi this Friday, Live on Heavenly.
The fourth world title in Welterweight, The WBO Belt, is held by Michaela Mayer, whom Jonas issued a close decision last year.
Britain’s Mayer Boxes Sandy Ryan later this month and the winner of that war would be a natural opponent for Jonas-Price Victor.
But Katie Taylor, with whom Jonas boxed at the 2012 Olympics and later in a professional world title war is the undisputed world champion in super light weight.
Jonas would move down to weight for a Taylor war. She said Heavenly‘Off borders: “I think the war that is personal is Katie. Beat Lauren and whoever comes next – Mayer and Ryan are fighting, whoever wins that war, this is to indisputable for us then.
“Either go and fight the floor for indisputable. Both options are indisputable after that war. Then this is much more (done). But I have to pass Lauren first.”
Joe Gallagher, who trains Jonas, is convinced that Liverpudlian will really receive the previous award, although the Welsh World Champion is a talented Olympic medal.
“If you look at what Lauren brings to the table, if you look at her background and the ancestry and the fighters she has fought, and the tools she brings to the table, her fist catalog,” Gallagher said Heavenly.
“And then you look at Natasha Jonas and the people with whom she has been with her and her catalog of fists and the shot – you (think) everyone is getting a little bit of hype here a little.”
He insists that this war will not be Jonas passing the torch ‘in price. “This is not the case. We will not go quietly. We have been in this position before, as with dark Harper and we have returned,” Gallagher said. “There is no pressure on Natasha. It’s all in Lauren.
“Here we are 2025 and she is putting herself back in the front line,” he continued. “Lauren will bring the best of Natasha again. Lauren does things that we think we can capitalize on.
“It becomes true,” he warned the award.
Although Jonas has been a unified world champion in super-selective weight as well as in good weight, Gallagher points out that it can be moved below another weight class. “Its true combat weight is either 135 or 140 bs,” he told Liverpool star.
“So what she has done and what she has achieved is incredible.”
