An agreement to resolve the cracks in professional golf is approaching as a result of President Trump’s involvement, according to PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan.
Liv Golf, supported by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, had broken men’s sport, with the men’s Breakaway league that attracts the names of stars from Rivalja PGA and DP World Tours.
Talks between different entities have still been reached at a conclusion, despite a framework agreement first signed in June 2023.
But after PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan visited the White House he issued a statement saying they were “closer to a final agreement”.
“We know that golf fans are eagerly anticipating a resolution for negotiations with the public investment fund and want to thank President Trump for his interest and long support of the Golf game,” Monahan and player directors Adam Scott and Tiger Woods in a statement.
“We asked the President to get involved for the good of the game, the good of the country and for all the places involved.
“We are grateful that his leadership has brought us to a final agreement, paving the way for the reunification of the professional golf of men.”
In a Podcast appearance before his election, Trump had claimed that “would take me the best part of 15 minutes” to secure an agreement between the liv and the tours set.
Talking to talk Sky Sports Golf Regarding that claim, Rory Mcilroy said: “He may be able!
“From the outside looking in I think it’s probably a little less complicated than it really is, but obviously Trump has a great relationship with Saudi Arabia, he has a great relationship with golf, he is a golf lover , so maybe who knows?
What is the situation of talks to join the golf?
It is now more than a year since the intended New Year’s Eve date came and went without an agreement between Liv’s supporters – Saudi Arab Public Investment Fund – PGA Tour and DP World Tour to formalize Framework Agreement To join Golf which was suddenly announced in June of that year.
Despite many reports since the time they suggested that a resolution on the talks was immediate, there has been no definitive progress with discussions between key players after closed doors that continue in 2025.
But there have been many examples over the past year to show that relations between the parties have significantly merged from the early enmities viewed throughout the game that accompanied the start of the liv and the subsequent entertainment of signing big money.
The one -time Mcilroy arch critic has spoken of the benefits of a dealWhile Monahan even played a golf round along with the governor of Pif Yasir al-Rumayyan in the championship Alfred Dunhill Links.
But there is still no final agreement and the plan agreed forward is not established.
