Rory Mcilroy will face JJ Spaun on a Monday Play-off in players after Northern Irish allowed a three-stroke lead over the closing holes of a marathon on Sunday.
Mcilroy entered the last round of four strokes after spaun but was accused of quarreling with a bird start at TPC Sawgrass, then found himself connected to the lead after reaching the turn to 33.
World No. 2 moved to the top of the driver’s table shortly before a four -hour weather delay, due to the threat of lightning, with Mcilroy then birding his first hole after resumption – 12 – to move three forward with six holes to play.
Mcilroy rejected his next hole and lost chances along the closing extension, seeing him posting a four-year-old, after Spaun Zied two of his last five holes to join Northern Irish on 12 under.
Previous delays would say that there was not enough day light for three-hole play-off, dragging the tournament on a fifth day, with the couple set to resume at 9am (1 afternoon GMT) to set the winner of the PGA Tour Flag event, With LIVE coverage in Sky Sports.
