Stephen Bunting was afraid to become the first player to finish a season of Premier League arrows with zero points before securing a first night win in Berlin to get his season from the sign.
Bunting, who was without a win for eight weeks, hit a nine dense in practice and then defeated Nathan Asinall, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price in a final leg decision makers while he finally broke his duck.
“To be honest, after the first victory, I was so relieved so that I would go down to zero points,” Bunting said Heavenly. “I have done a lot of backstage work. I tried 110 percent every week, without failing.
“This is such a special moment. There were cases during the Premier League where I thought: ‘Can I end up at zero points?’
“To get down from the sign tonight and win a night. It’s such a special feeling.”
The five-point Bunting courtesy for his triumph in Berlin means that a late O2 final run in London on May 29 is not completely off the cards, with world No. 5 now only four points away from the first four.
“Let’s not go too far in front of us,” Bunting replied when asked in his Play-off hopes.
“I think I played my best arrows tonight when I was calm and I thought the leagues are gone.
“There is definitely still a chance that I can make the first four, but I won’t put too much pressure on myself.”
Webster: Bunting will feel a million dollars
Sports Sky ‘ Mark Webster also labeled it a “long order” to do bunting to go out to the second half of the season, but was excited to see it at least descend from the sign.
“There is still time in the remaining season, though he was very diplomatic with his response regarding the Play off -tracking – is a tough slogan,” Webster said.
“He has to continue to build, take some more points, as he has a big season ahead and still many Premier League arrows to play.
“If he wins the next week, these things can be rolled. And there is Liverpool around the corner – we know how much that night means to him.
“Still still a long order for him and he is realistic, but he played well tonight and he will feel much quieter next week in Manchester.”
Webster added: “I was just pleased when I saw him win tonight. You don’t like seeing a player come back and beat weeks, he was saying all the right things, but he would have been doubting himself.
“At then not only get the point tonight, but win the night, he will feel a million dollars.”
