Justin Thomas followed his first round 61 with a two-nine-par 69 to maintain superiority through 36 holes in RBC Heritage, with Tommy Fleetwood, England three shots.
Thomas’s stable round presented four birds and two Bogeys, pushing it on the 12th of Nine 130 for the event after he tied the Golf Links Harbor Links Record on Thursday. The big champion is twice looking for his first victory of any kind since the PGA 2022 championship.
As South Korea’s woo Kim shot the day, a seven under 64, to enter a second part of 10 under Russell Henley (68).
Andrew Novak (65) and Fleetwood (66) are connected for the fourth in nine under. Scottie Scheffler was set for one under 70, including all pars in the nine rear, and is connected for the sixth in eight under Canadian Mackezie Hughes (66).
“Much of it has simply been crushed and trying hard,” Thomas said about his drought. “I almost feel like I’m a kind of past the point where luckily you all stopped me asked me – which is beautiful – but I would also prefer to overcome it.
“Something I feel like I did so well there for a few years is that I just let the tournaments come to me and just trusted my ability.
“That’s really my key this week is that I’m just trying to really trust my game and commit to what I’m doing.”
The main winners Collin Morikawa (66), Brian Harman (69) and Wyndham Clark (70) are part of a five -way tie in seven under.
There is no 36 -holes in the $ 20 million signature event. Among those fighting near the back of the field with 72 men are max Homa (even par), Sahith Theegala (one over), Will Zalaatoris (three above), Adam Hadwin of Canada (four above) and Nick Dunlap (seven).
Theegala was Scheffler’s competitor in this tour last year.
