Wynham Clark admits that he should improve his form in the coming months if he will have the opportunity to represent Team USA and cause ‘revenge’ in Team Europe at the Ryder Cup this September.
The former Open Open champion was part of the 16.5-11.5 beaten team from Team Europe in Rome in 2023, a seven-year loss to the United States in the two-year competition, with Clark representing the Team USA at the Olympics and Presidents last season.
Clark has been without a win since 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM and has only recorded one 10 Top Tour Tour so far this year, leaving it currently outside the automatic qualification sites to present to Keegan Bradley’s side at Bethpage Black.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be part of Team USA for three events now, the Cup of Presidents, Olympiada and Ryder Cup – but none of them have been played on American soil and none of them have heard people really cheering for me,” Clark told Sky Sports Golf Podcast.
“There are more boos and things against me, so I really want to have that experience. I really love our captain, Keegan Bradley. He and I are pretty good buds, so I’m just happy for him and I think he will do an amazing job.

“I hope I’m one of the 12 boys. Of course, as now, I probably have to play the best golf to win my country, but I hope to do it.”
Clark was Patrick Cantlay’s partner for Saturday Fourballs in Rome, where a recent holes victory aroused angry scenes in the 18th green that continued in the car park before being sent to Sunday bachelors.
“I was really annoyed to be the 12th boy,” Clark added. “I want to say yes. After all it could go down to my match, and – if we had a chance to come back – it would have.
“I also knew if things didn’t go well, no one was looking at me, and then it didn’t matter. And it was exactly what happened. We had four or five holes to play. We had a good match going, Bob (Macintyre) and I, and was the same way. It is like, well, shooting.
“The only thing I don’t like about the Ryder Cup is that there is individual data. I don’t think it should be kept – I think it’s about if you win or don’t. It is a team thing, so who cares about the individual part?
“She left a very sour taste in my mouth, losing and I want revenge. It would be really fun to get home and setting a beat as they did on us on housewife too.”
More success to come for Clark?
Clark returns to the Wells Fargo championship, the tour that he claimed his title of girls PGA Tour, while the PGA championship is held a week later at the Hollow Quail club – the place for his success in progress.
“Quail Hollow is a very challenging, amazing golf course, and having my first PGA Tour victory there is very dear to my heart,” Clark added. “Nice nice to get a major in a place in which I succeeded, so I really hope to get some of those vibrations.
“I feel like my game is trending in the right direction, so I just hope I have my game that week because I know the golf course fits me well.”
Clark watched that win at the Wells Fargo championship claiming a large title of girls at US Open a month later, where he came through a last round clash with Rory Mcilroy to look for a win with a County Club’s Los Angeles.
“I think winning in Quail was the biggest stress of everything, to be honest,” Clark admitted. “Just getting that weight from my shoulders to eventually tread and win my first PGA Tour victory, so this is probably the biggest.
“Then win in Lacc more proved that ‘hey, I can be one of the best players in the world. I know I’m one of the best players in the world’ and then I went out and I showed that I was more of a great confidence building than facilitating pressure.
“Whether you are trying to penetrate for your first victory, whether you are trying to get your first magnitude, or you are trying to do what Rory did and have a Grand Slam, there is always pressure depending on who you are, and is simply at different levels.
“When you finally meet it and win and do it, it’s a massive weight from your shoulders. Only all that hard work and blood, sweat, tears, just join.”
