Sepp Straka told The Sky Sports Golf Podcast that “its goal No 1” in 2025 is to make Europe’s Ryder Cup team and play in the “crazy environment” in Bethpage Black.
The Austrian made his debut in tour in Rome in 2023, taking a point from his three games as he and Shane Lowry beat Rickie Fowler and Collin Morikawa in the first four persons.
This victory came in the middle of a 4-0 cleansing at the opening session, and Europe continued to win 16.5-11.5 under the captain of Luke Donald to recover the trophy they had lost in Wiscons two years ago.
Looking forward to this September competition, Straka told the Sky Sports Golf Podcast exclusively: “That would be goal No. 1. You would think that playing in Rome would be an article on the bucket list, but it just makes you want to do it even more.
“I think it will be a very crazy environment and I think one great thing is to treat pressure – that will be great because we will feel a lot of pressure from many different sides.
“I think being mentally strong will be great for 12 that go and that is something you can start preparing. You will never have that environment, but you can definitely start preparing to .
“The preparation (for Donald and Vice President Edoardo Molinari) started the day after Rome. They were already preparing even though we did not know for sure that Luke would be the captain.
“No stone will remain intact with those boys who prepare us for that tournament. Whoever is 12 will be as almost as possible for that environment.”

Straka: 2023 Ryder Cup exceeded my expectations
“My expectations (for the 2023 Ryder Cup) were really high going through the week and it exceeded every reception I had,” Straka continued.
“It was so special. Just staying on the first Friday with shane (Lowry) and the crowd was just incredible all week. It was just a very extraordinary environment.
“I would imagine the environment will be different, but that team room will still feel the same in New York. I am really looking forward to trying to play my way to the team.”
Straka – a three -time winner in PGA Tour, recently in January in American Express – thinks he is capable of a big victory and has appointed championship open to Royal Portrush in July.
World No. 16 added: “I definitely think my best is quite good. Many things have to be gathered – you really can’t force a big tour or force a tour.
“I think Augusta (for masters) is always circulated, but Royal Portrush – I’ve heard from many players, many velvet that is their favorite open. This will be really special.
“I’ve got a lot better at the golf links over the years. I think my skills set some kind of matches better for that major than many others.
“No one likes to play in those conditions, but openly you just enjoy it and you know it’s part of it.”
