The Tai Woffinden’s Tai Woffinden’s triple world champion has been aired in hospital after a “very serious” collision in Poland.
The 34-year-old, Britain’s most decorated runner, is understood to be receiving treatment at a hospital in Krosno after being involved in a three-knight collision with races for rzeszow.
Woffinden was intertwined with Francisek Majewski’s teammate and crashed into the first turn, with the meeting later abandoned after he was transferred to the hospital.
Reports in Poland claim that the 34-year-old broke his femur and both hands in the incident.
“Our knight, Tai Woffinden, had a very serious accident during the seventh race in a sparring match in Krosno,” read a post on the official Rzeszow Facebook page.
“Tai was transported by helicopter to rzeszów, where his condition is now being diagnosed by doctors. Detailed information will be provided after exams.
“We would like to thank (President of Krosno) Grzegorz Leśniak for his quick reaction to our knight’s accident and providing him with all the help. So we stay with you!”
Woffinden had just returned to the bike after his 2024 season was completed with a broken elbow nine months ago.
“Sheffield Speedway are aware of a racing collision involving Tai Woffinden in Poland this afternoon,” read a statement by Sheffield Speedway.
“Out of respect for Tai and his family, we politely ask supporters not to answer or share any rumors.
“We will offer supporters an official update when it is appropriate to do so.”
