Tyson Fury should reconsider his latest pension and take the fight with Anthony Joshua, recommends British boxing legend Ricky Hatton.
Manchester Hatton knows Fury well and has previously helped in his training.
Fury publicly announced his pension from boxing in January and has not given any indication that he plans to return that decision.
But Hatton said Heavenly: “Tyson retired before. It happens so they were trying to make Joshua fight. They were trying to do it for 10 years and it seems they still won’t do it now Tyson retired.
“But I would get that pension with a pinch of salt knowing Tyson. If he is to be offered the right money, the right bag for the Aj war, knowing Tyson just like me, I think he would be thrown into it.”
Hatton believes that taking the war in Joshua would be the right solution for rage.
“I think Tyson will kick himself if he is sitting on his sofa 10 years below the line and thinks of himself,” I wonder what would have happened if I had fought AJ? “Hatton said.
“He is able to do something now instead of cursing himself for the rest of his life.”
However, if Fury makes the Joshua box, Hatton believes he has to call time in his career. “If he does, this is the last I would like him to have. Because you don’t like seeing your friends get hurt,” Hatton said.
“I would like to see him retired. I think he has done enough. I would like to see him fight, but I think he did enough. Let’s be right, a few years ago when he was 26th, we never thought he would fight again.
“He was almost not here for all the problems he had. So he would do what he did, he has made us all proud and I would like to see him retire now.”
Fury was competing at the highest level last year. He lost his WBC belt in the indisputable war of the unquestionable May World Championship with Oleksandr Ulyk and in December tried in their match for unified WBC, WBA and WBO titles.
“His fights against Usyk were I think much closer than the fighting with Usyk,” Hatton reflected. “Daniel Dubois was undoubtedly beaten by Ustyk and there was little controversy in that.
“I think Ustyk won both fighting against Tyson, but I can see why other people thought Tyson could have won them. Because they were so close. Tyson, he still got a lot in the reservoir as much as I’m worried. He pushed usyk away from someone else.
“Look what he did and what he has achieved. He had that trilogy with Deontay Wilder who was an absolutely sensational battle with three fights. He has returned when no one thought he could and became the world’s heavyweight champion.
“He has nothing left to try.”
