Wigan Warriors Director General Chris Radlinski believes that Super League is set for a “unprecedented” moment when his club gets Warrington Wolves in Las Vegas on March 1st, Live in Sky Sports.
In one concept, NRL began in 2024, Wigan and Warrington are part of a bumper day of action at Allegiant Stadium, opening a Rugby League festival which also includes two NRL devices and an international competition between Australia Jillaroos and England Women .
Radinski was the main driver who included Wigan and he believes the game as a whole would reap their inclusion, with the levels of invisible interest previously for the Super League.
Indeed, that interest began in the opening match of the season when Wigan got Leopards Leigh and had a hat in Vegas in the country, plus the Michael Buffer icon that announced both teams on the field.
“I saw the games (Vegas 2024) in the morning at Sky Sports and looked like Rugby’s League on another planet. It was Rugby’s League as we had never seen before,” Radlinski said bench Podcast.
“Production, colors and if we have to take us seriously as a sport and grow, I believe we should be part of these cases.
“So my friend, Tony Mestrov, is CEO in Manly Sea Eagle and I asked for an entry into Peter V’landys whose baby is.
“Within 12 hours he turned and said we would like to have you part of it, let’s talk about it.
“It was three months of negotiations and Hype about the game is unprecedented for our sport.
“I think I bored some people along the way, other clubs saying ‘Why are they doing it?” But I’m good annoying people if it is for the greatest good I believe it is.
“Getting our sport we love and do something different will make us grow.
“What I don’t want to do is continue to grow in February with the same product and say” gives us more money “when every other sport is progressing in many ways and we are not.
“So to be part of this, this was the main driver.”
But what does a successful trip to Las Vegas for Super League look like? Radinski believes there will be two other clubs from the competition involved in 2026.
“There is a danger. We lose our home game here against Warrington,” he added.
“So with the hospitality, the sale of tickets, the season tickets, we just have to write it. This is a decision our owner had to make.
“If we want to be part of this, then he is ready to do it. We have a separation of the Warrington ticket revenue for fans who will go back in this regard, but for me, it is super league alongside NRL , the main competition in the world.
“It is such an iconic country and I have media that contact me that they have never contacted Rugby League before. There are media in America who want to be part of it.
“I know the work that Sky Sports are doing behind the scenes. Investment is an investment we’ve never had before. I think we’ll all benefit from it.
“Success will be measured by two other teams that go next year and will spread it.”
