The Bluesky Social Network, an alternative to X built on open source technologies, has scored a great victory in attracting prominent users on its platform. The company on Sunday confirmed that former President Barack Obama has joined its service.
Bluesky Ooo Rose Wang responded to a post where someone wondered if the account she posted as Obama was legitimately writing “Confirm!”
In his first posts on the platform, Obama celebrated the 15th anniversary of the affordable care act (ACA), calling it “a reminder that change is possible when we fight for progress”.
The former president holds a big follow -up on other social media platforms, including X and Facebook, where he has 130.6 million followers and 55 million followers, respectively.
However, Elon Musk’s X, previously known as Twitter platform, has lost a number of users on alternative social networks, including Bluesky, after the 2024 US elections. Musk used X to campaign for President Trump and promote Maga -related political views. He also now holds a prominent position in the Trump district thanks to his involvement with DOGE (Government Efficiency Department), which has worked to reduce the federal government’s workforce, cutting spending and dismantling government agencies.
Not surprisingly, many left -wing American users do not want to participate in X. Their exodus from the platform led to a big clash in growing users for Bluesky at the end of 2024. Today, the new social network has over 33 million users and is continuing to grow.
Other American politicians are already active in Bluesky, including well-known names such as Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Al Green, Gavin Newsom and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who became the first man in Bluesky to hit a million followers. Many other representatives, senators and government have also joined the network.
