Meta made titles last month to announce the plans to cut 5% of its employees, considering them “low interpreters”. But job cuts are not carrying flaws from expansion in certain geographical areas.
Meta is creating a new site at the Bengaluru Country Technology Center (formerly known as Bangalore), numerous Meta employees posted on LinkedIn this month.
Meta is currently hiring 41 positions there, according to her career site, most of which were posted in the last month. The positions are divided between the work of the software or machinery learning engineer, and the roles focused on the design of chips for meta centers.
Meta Bengaluru is looking for an “experienced engineering director to build and lead our engineering team in India”, reads one of Meta’s work advertising, which was posted three weeks ago at LinkedIn, reads.
The Director of Engineering in Bengaluru will be responsible for designing a strategy to hire and build founding engineering teams, plus help create “a vision for engineers in India,” reads advertising.
The new center is part of the Meta Enterprise Engineering Team, according to a LinkedIn post by a drawback. This team focuses on Meta’s interior tools, rather than the most popular meta products like Facebook and Instagram.
While Meta has some existing offices in India, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, New Delhi and Mumbai, most have less work openings and they are mainly for non -engineering roles. Only 1 of the 12 positions available in other countries are engineering -related, the Meta career site says.
A Meta spokesman in India told Techcrunch that he is recruiting for a “small number of engineering positions in Bengaluru”.
“We regularly update our location strategies to support our long -term investments,” the spokesman said.
41 Bangalore positions are a small part of Global Meta Labor posts, currently over 1,700 in total. But it represents a Meta shift, which has not traditionally used India as an engineering center – those positions are historically located in North America and Europe.
In an example from 2022, an Indian software engineer made titles after he was fired from Meta just two days after moving to Canada for work.
Meta Director General Mark Zuckerberg has said that Meta aims to support the work she shorten during her latest round of jobs.
