With the first week of the Meta Antitrust Court after us, the documents allocated by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) offered more mirrors in the Meta internal wars to keep Facebook important. In emails from 2022, Meta leaders cheated various visions for Facebook’s future to increase its success, admitting that its cultural importance was decreasing.
Aheads quickly until 2025, and Meta is still being caught up with the matter. Mark Zuckerberg said while calling the Q4 company profits in January that the company wants to restore the cultural importance of Facebook this year with a return to “OG Facebook”. Part of its solution to this problem is the end of the end of a rebuilding file.
In a series of messages from April 2022, which were shared as evidence during the trial, Zuckerberg discussed concerns about Facebook’s “friends” structure and format being obsolete as any other key platform focused on “The following”.
He considered to plunge the format of friends and even suggested to delete everyone’s friends on Facebook and start them again.
Some of the highlights of Mark Zuckerberg’s electronic posts are below.
Concerns about Facebook losing cultural importance
- “I want to make sure we have a unique vision for the FB app that can lead to sustainable growth over time. Although FB application engagement is sustainable in many countries, it feels like its cultural importance is decreasing quickly and I worry that this may be a major indicator of future health issues. Falters, so we need this right.
- “My theory is that we need to refresh the graphical structure of FB in order for it to gain cultural importance and a better long -term path.”
- “I think we have to find a strategy that does not leave a service to get the snippets that the other service leaves behind or having a service or artificially restricted or unreasonable itself.
Worrying that Facebook’s “friendly” structure is outdated
- “The FB app possesses the concept of friendship, so if there was a way to refresh this and make it a more important part of life in the 2020s, then that could be a good way.”
- “Friending Feels Out of Vogue Right Now for Least a Few Reasons. First, a Lot of People’s Friend Graple and Not Finished with the People? first issue. Since FB does not feel as important cultural, this adds further weight to add some to FB VS other services. “
- “It seems to me that the position of the FB application in cultural importance is deeply related to the structure of the graph of friends compared to other principles of organization-for example, Ig/Twitter style tracking graphs, pure algorithmic approach of the tick, red-style groups/communities, etc.”
Solutions
- “Everyday Modern Social Network is built on the following than friendly, so it seems possible that the FB app is simply obsolete because it has never adopted this basic innovation. The way to correct this would be to adopt fully in the following. If we wanted to do so, I do not think that by supporting public accounts, it would be enough.”
- “A potentially crazy idea is to consider deleting everyone’s graphs and starting them again. This obviously carries the risk that if we did it, then many people would simply not rebuild their graphs or become the needle.”
