People who work for, or with Elon Musk, are said to be taking over the internal work of numerous government agencies, including the Personnel Management Office, the Treasury Department and the General Services Administration.
Washington Post reported on Friday that the top -ranking officer in the Treasury is leaving the department after “a clash” with people working for the so -called Department of Musk Government Efficiency Resources.
Doge officials have requested access to the system – which controls the course of more than 6 trillion dollars a year in programs such as social security and Medicare – after the elections in November. The Trump administration has sought ways to stop the flow of federal money acquired by the Congress, including in a hurry by ordering a confusing freezing of expenses that experts say it violates the Constitution.
Reuters also reported on Friday that Music aides have “blocked civil servants in career outside computer systems containing the personal data of millions of federal employees”, citing two unnamed agency officials. The leaked documents obtained from the Wired Show Musk staff have taken over the general services administration, a government agency that manages offices and federal technology.
Across the government, technology workers are grilled and undergoing codes’ revisions by Mus Mus aides, Wired reported on Thursday. Musk and his team also appear to have been involved in a recent email across the government offering employees the opportunity to resign.
Musk’s composition for the federal government so far traces closely chaotic days after taking on his Twitter, as detailed by books as “Limit Character” and other reports by time.
It represents an unprecedented seizure of power within the US government, and what directly opposes the original intention of the DOGE. When Donald Trump first informed him in November after he won the election, the idea was to create Doge as an entity outside the federal government that would make recommendations on where to cut costs.
This is not what happened.
Following his inauguration, Trump signed an executive order that renamed the US digital service to the “US Doge service”, which means Musk is now working within the government. He is reported to have an office on the western wing of the White House, but is apparently sleeping in the Doge office, according to Wired.
