In an interview with Monday’s Larry Kudlow Fox, billionaire Elon Musk admitted that his involvement with the Government Efficiency Department, Donald Trump’s initiative to reduce federal spending, is making it tougher to run his many businesses: X, Tesla, Xai, Spacex, Company Boring.
“How are you running your other businesses?” Kudlow asked at one point. “With a lot of difficulty,” replied Musk. “Honestly, I can’t believe I’m doing that.”
Musk and Doge, which has about 100 employees – a number that Musk expects to climb to 200 – have been criticized for overloading and underestimating spending spending on US government agencies. Government contracting experts say the online record of DOGE reductions contains incorrect information and blows “savings” claims including fraudulent mathematics regarding contract cancellations.
Doge has also endangered US data and computing infrastructure through its work, according to internet security analysts. Doge employees, some of whom have little experience by working with government systems, are said to have entered the agency’s data through unsafe means and copied that unprotected servers.
While Musk complains that his work advising Doge has extended it thin, the billionaire is accused of using the initiative to weaken the regulations that oversee his business ventures.
Doge has destroyed the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which was ready to expand the supervision of colleagues’ payment systems, including the future product of the X. Elsewhere, Doge has fired probation workers in the Federal Aviation Administration, which had proposed sentences for violating SPacex security. And Dage has pushed for significant staff cuts to the insurance and exchanges commission, with which Musk has a long quarrel.
When asked by Qudlow if he would extend his involvement in the Doge with “another year,” Musk said, “yes”.
“We’re just doing things, compared to writing a report,” Musk added. “Like, reports mean nothing. You have to take action actually. “
